This saw is amazing! I certainly can and do recommend it. I have owned gasoline fueled saws in the past and have had to contend with mixing gas and oil, disposing of unused mixture when it became out dated, trying to start a saw that had been unused for a while, and visits to the service center for maintenance. None of that with a Greenworks cordless chainsaw. Just push a button and it's on. The last tree I cut down was a little over 16 inches in diameter and I had no problem with this saw. It's also a dream to use during the stop and go cutting when bucking. My first Greenworks 16”40 volt cordless saw was lost in a recent flood and I didn't hesitate to buy another.
Great pricing and fast shipping from the vendor. Chainsaw has plenty of power and the 4ah battery power is an excellent match for this tool. Easy to clean fiberous debris around the chainsaw's drive mechanism by removal of the side plate.
That's really nice and fast for small jobs in the backyard. I really like how the chain is adjusted and how you can take it apart to clean it very simple. I need to get a bigger battery.
Did some serious cutting with this 40 volt Green Work 16" saw and my Green Work's 18 inch 80 volt chain saw. I am slowly cutting some big up to 20 inch large Oak Trees from last hurricane in S.C. I used the 40 volt 16 inch saw to do most of the limb cutting and cut back on the main tree to a certain point. When new you need to check the chain saw tighter about every three or so many cuts to keep chain tight. My chain came loose a couple of times due to looseness and not cutting the large limbs properly. Was no problem to put back on. You have too, even with a gas powered saw. Watch how you cut, so as not to bind the chain. This saw is cuts very well. The 4 amp battery last a good while. Being I am 66 years old. The batteries last much longer than me. I and my wife cut one tree back to one third of tree left . Worked about three hours with both Green Works saws. Batteries did not run down. Had two bars left on both batteries. The 4 Amp batteries are heavier but put out a lot of power and last longer than the 2 AMP batteries. What is left of the tree I will finish cutting down with my 590 Echo Timber Wolf Saw. If you keep your chain saw chains sharp and use these 40 volt Green Works 16 inch and the 18 inch 80 volt Green Works chain saw for what they are designed to do. They work really well. I like both of mine a bunch. Will wait and see how they hold up overtime. With a lifetime warranty on the motor and warranty on the batteries/charger. Great deal. P.S. I bought that Japan made Katanaboy hand saw from Wal- Mart. It is a big winner as well.
I have like a truck. nobody wants to pull a rip cord 40 ft in the air. this is easy safer super thrilled with it. My 16-year-old goes up in the bucket and I feel confident. I would never trust him with gas powered saw in that bucket. I don't know if I trust myself with a gas-powered saw in that confined space. it cuts like butter it's lightweight. only drawback is the battery. I get about an hour out of it. just so we're clear I've been using this to cut down whole trees. branches up to 16 in over 40 ft in the air. I love this saw I have several name brand gas I choose this one every time. a second battery is a great investment if you're going to do some serious cutting. I do wish I had went with 18-in bar. however I don't want to go any heavier. I really like this it's possible to operate one-handed. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about this saw. just as a side note my friend came over to help me cut up a 38 inch across tree and his girlfriend was getting bored. I handed it to her she had never cut before and she started lumping off branches like she had been cutting all her life. she's like I thought chainsaws were heavy and hard to work with. I smiled and said That's my favorite one lol and I absolutely fell in love with the tool-free bar adjustment. why doesn't every chainsaw have this it is in my opinion a must-have feature. The only thing that can make this easier to use is if somebody else was doing it for you. but then it takes away all the fun of cutting up a tree. 10 out of 10 I would buy again.
I have only used the saw for a short test run, but am very happy with it so far. Quieter than expected, and more powerful. I subtracted one star because of the weight; it's a bit too heavy for me to use as I would a lighter, corded chainsaw.
The motor and battery on this unit and overall weight and build indicates a heavy duty unit. BUT, the chain and chain bar are lightweight and chinzy. After 15 minutes of cutting the chain flew off the bar. After reinstalling it and retightening the chain and bar adjustments working ok again. This is not for heavy duty cutting. The motor, however, is pretty heavy duty.
For me it was really hard to put it together and with this design the chain doesn't seem tight enough to stay in track.
Do not buy this saw. I was impressed by how well it was cuttint at first, but that didn't last long: I made four cuts before the chain popped off the bar. I'm very lucky this didn't result in any injury. Tried to put it back on and continue, but now it won't even stay on the bar at all. I've tried running it tighter and looser, it just won't stay on. It appears either the chain or bar bent and will no longer stay in line with one another, which is really not surprising given how they chose to drive the chain/affix the bar and how much room for error there is in the assembly.
I love the chainsaw, charger %26 battery. However, the extra battery that was sent to me separately as part of this order is either broken or entirely wrong for the chainsaw. It is absolute rubbish. It weighs about 1/2 of the original battery and lasts only about 5 minutes before it runs out of power on the saw. It is not the type of product that I have ever received from my Walmart orders. Please let me know what to do about this terrible battery.
