I was pleasantly surprised with the great turn by turn directions I got with the XOG. I also love looking up restaurants and attractions in areas I'm not quite as familiar with It was easy to use. I set it up all by myself (yeah !!) and was using it in a matter of minutes. My husband has also played with the map downloads and used it on his last hunting trip as a handheld navigator.

This is the most user friendly GPS I have ever used. A great turn by turn and hand held GPS with the Sat imagery from their website. Highly Recommend...

I picked this out for my birthday present from my wife and I love it. I can put in an address and this unit will put me at the front door. I have traveled over 1000 miles on vacation and this unit has guided me through getting place to place. Even if you take the wrong exit or road, this unit will recalculate the route. It will also warn you when your turn is coming up. I have no complaints about this unit. I am going to but the lake maps and I will let you know how they are. Thanks, Scooter

The XOG is a great GPS navigation device for the outdoors people. I love how compact it is and can fit into my pocket when I go hiking. The road navigation is fantastic as well. And the touch screen is one of the best I have seen and used. All around great product.

Product has lived up to what I was looking for so far. Can't wait to get out on the trail's with our horses this year. Only fault so far is the anoying feature of the automatic spelling completion when trying to enter a new destination. If it likes another choice other than what you want it will not continue to let you enter charicters. I hope they can fix in the next software update. Overall I'm a happy camper.

I bought a handheld GPS made by this company for twice the price because I was familiar the menus and options. To my suprise the GPS that I bought had very few streets and hiways included on it's base maps and could only be slightly better with an expensive upgrade. Even after all that it still would not give turn by turn directions. I called Lowrance to find all this out. After I discribed what I wanted I was informed that the XOG would be the best option. It will work just like the TOM TOM ect. on the street. And just like a handheld off-road or in the ocean. The only downfall is that the internal battery only lasts for 2 1/2 hours. It does come with a 12 volt lighter plug power supply for your car or boat, however, if you have it in your backpack or on your ATV it will need an external battery for more life. I found a great battery for it at Radioshack for about $30. Very small and easy to use, made for cell phones and PDAs. This will cure the battery problem. The screen provides a good quality color image that is easy to see from about 3ft away. The touch screen is very good (just like Iphone) You can also buy SAT image maps from their website for say your campsite or neighborhood. All in all it is alot of GPS for the money. It works as good as all the rest on the street and is great for the outdoorsman or weekend boater as well. If this is what your looking for it's called a "crossover GPS" and it is the best available of it's kind right now

Lowrance XOG Handheld

This was my first purchase of a GPS and I was looking for something to use in both my car as well as motorcycle or hiking. The product arrived quickly and the was exactly as advertised. However, after working with this unit for 24 hours I returned it for another manufacturer because of the low battery life. I discovered that if I wanted to use this in the field or on my motorcycle, the battery would only last for about two hours. While my stamina hiking for two hours might fail, my ability to ride on my motorcycle would easily exceed that short limit. I decided to purchase another Crossover unit that advertised eight hour battery life. While the graphics of the XOG are better, the battery life was more important to me.

Not Very Happy

I have had two of these units in the last 48 hours. The first worked very well for about 24 hours, it did everything that it advertised. Then the screen went blank and would not display anything properly. That unit was returned (with no problem) and a second unit was taken home. After plugging the unit in via the USB cable to our computer and allowing it to charge overnight I then did the required software update from the Lowrance web site. When that was finished the unit was powered on only to find that the touch screen does not respond and we cannot get the Warning screen to clear. This unit will also be returned to the store and we are going back to Garmin.
