Excellent customer support and a very comprehensive web site. This is their new slimline design and as a result, the speaker is a little tinny sounding as compared to the thicker 4040 which I also own. It is still very clear and understandable, even in heavy, noisy traffic. Sometimes voice commands have to be repeated to the GPS but this is a minor inconvenience. I did not buy this unit for the voice command capability. The 6 million POIs is a definite plus. Just about anything you might need is in there. Magellan also uses the best chip design for satellite tracking so you will never be without service. I can even get full satellite coverage with the unit inside my home. Right now, I am in my computer room and have 6 satellites showing on my 4250. If I was outside, I would have at least 11 satellites showing on the screen. The variable mounting system options that came with this unit are second to none. I believe Magellan has the best mounting hardware of any manufacturer. Over all, this is a great looking, excellent performing GPS and the 4.3 inch screen is great for over 40 eyes.
HAVE USED MAGELLAN PRODUCTS FOR MANY YEARS AND THEY HAVE BEEN TROUBLE FREE. THIS IS THE SECOND MAGELLAN GPS SYSTEM I HAVE PURCHASED. MY FIRST MAGELLAN A ROADMATE 700 IS STILL WORKING LIKE A BRAND NEW UINT. MY ONLY REASON FOR PURCHASING A MAGELLAN MAESTRO 4250 WAS FOR THE UPGRADES. HAPPY TRAVELING.
Works great. Even when we changed course it brought us right back on track.
This is a great GPS . I like to travel and I am a widow. SO I go alone a lot of time. Having this free's me from trying to remember what I read on the map. It frees me from the anxious worry of getting lost. It is easy to operate and accurate. I like that it is for driving and walking. I reccomend it to everyone no matter if you never leave your own town. Agreat gift for family members.
I have wanted a GPS for awhile. I tried another brand from Sacramento to Phoenix and it misidentified roads and had difficulties rerouting me after I had missed a turn. I talked with my father about different GPS units, since he has tried out three different brands, and he recommended the Magellan series based off the advice of service drivers, i.e. taxi, FedEx, UPS, Airport Shuttles, ect. The majority preferred the Magellan GPS's. I did my research on the Magellan sight and looked for the features I wanted. This particular unit is pretty neat with myriad of POIs, ability to reroute, large screen, simple touch screen features, traffic alerts, and the voice command; however it has difficulty detecting voices with additional noises like the A/C or radio running. Honestly not a big deal for me. I used this unit recently to move my family from Arizona to Alabama, via south Texas and it preformed well. Its one year subscription for traffic alerts is useful and its ability to identify 6 million POIs is handy for gas and food. It hiccupped twice on me and tried to route me backwards to go forward and through a difficult downtown area in Houston my family said to stay out of because of traffic. Like all units it will have a small lag time from your position and what is on the screen so pay attention to the voice prompts which come in ample time starting 2 miles out. Overall a good unit that I would recommend!
