Surprisingly sturdy, considering the cheap price. It will seem wobbly until you attach the back. I honestly thought it was going to fall apart when I left it (raised) for an hour to go buy a hammer to nail in the back. Each shelf holds either 35 or 50 lbs. depending on if it is the bottom/middle or an adjustable (fixed shelves hold more) shelf. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver and a hammer, possible a flat-head screwdriver unless it comes with hex-screws and an Allen wrench like mine. Very pleased over all.
i use this shelf in my home office to hold books, DVD's, Picture frames, and general storage. It looks great and everyone loves it! However, it is a bit tipsy on my carpet, but i put the corner covers in the bottom front corners only, this helped to make the shelf tilt back slightly and prop perfectly against the wall.
Compared to other bookshelves I have had in the past this one far out weighs all of the other ones put together. The other ones I have bought were the same price or cheaoer and boy were they flimsy. This bookcase is so sturdy. I have a lot of books on it and I am planning on buying 3 more soon for books and collectibles.
wasnt for sure if i would like it @ 1st but come to find out i really like it! lots of space ( this thing is tall!) pretty sturdy too but use the wall mount to be sure it will be secure! will be getting another one for my comp. room soon
Excellent value for the price. It is a very nice, simple, large, black bookcase. I searched a lot before buying and didn't come across any other plain black bookcases, not to mention anything even remotely comparable in price - even at IKEA (surprisingly).
I bought two of them and placed it beside my television. It looks great!!!! Very easy to assemble!!!
This is an awesome alternative to those bland white shelves you can put together. Assembly does take work, but the instructions are very good. Great bookcase for organization and decor! FYI package is very heavy. I am very happy with my purchase.
It's simple enough to put together, and when finished, it looks... well, like a bookshelf, but nothing to write home about. Some sections didn't line up precisely, but not so much that it'll bother you unless you're detail oriented like me. Note that it is a bit tippy, especially on carpet. It does come with a bracket to help stabilize the top, but this wasn't terribly useful given that I wanted to put it against a brick wall. A heavy load of books on the bottom shelf certainly helps, but I wouldn't use it to store or display knick-knacks.
Make sure you carefully turn the shelf on to its side to place and nail in the back board. The bottom screw attachments tore right threw the particle board. Had to glue the pieces in or throw the shelf out.
One side of the upper half of this bookcase did not even have the holes for the shelves!! Of course, I did not relize this until I had fully assembled it and went to put the shelves in. Serious pain to return. You really get what you pay for. The particle board is very cheap and the laminate is very thin. It is one of those pieces of furniture that can only survive one move.
