Hayneedle is the only place I've found that sells white hose containers. It arrived quickly and is great quality product. It looks terrific!
Very versatile and functional. Plenty of room to house 100' hose, with secure lid featuring classic architectural styling.
Purchased this product some time ago and wanted to see how this item holds up before a review. HIGHLY SATISFIED first time customer! We resurfaced our pool deck & patio and needed this to keep the hose off of the ground. I was looking for dark bronze but the black blends in nicely with the pool cage & surroundings. Sturdy, stands up to windy days and the Florida sun has not faded it and is the perfect size to store the hose. Also wanted the container to be off of the ground to allow air flow and water to run under it to avoid mildew or staining on the pool deck surface. Good product!
I love everything about this hose bin. I have a 50' hose in it, but I can tell it could hold another 50'. I can even keep pruners inside, as the bin's cover keeps everything dry. The bin looks so neat and tidy--a big improvement over the eye-sore, old, reel-type holder that came with our house.
I bought one of those 'retractable" light weight hoses but it said to keep it inside when not in use and there is no way I was doing that so I bought this box with a lid. It works great. The lid fits tight enough to be secure in a breeze. Now the hose is out of the Florida sun and I'm happy to not have to unhook it and carry to the garage every time I use it! I also shopped around and this one had the best price.
After spending $$$$ to re-surface the pool and patio area, we needed something to store the garden hose in to keep it off of the ground to protect the new surface. This item is the perfect size to store the hose. We purchased the item in black. It is extremely sturdy and weather durable. The lid has a very secure fit so it does not blow off with high winds. It was a bonus to see that the underside of this item has extra support with the crisscross design and allows the flow of air and water to run under it to avoid mildew or staining on the pool deck surface. Highly satisfied with this item.
I love the beautiful metal and ceramic hose pots but I really wanted something that was lightweight, would not overheat in the Texas summers, was not too large and also looks good. This fill the bill perfectly. I like that the lid fits snuggly - no blowing away. It's much more attractive and protective than the old hose reel that I had. A really nice product.
I rated this a 4 star because it is on the small size. A bit pricy also for the size. It would be nice if it was a bit taller so it hides the facet and the connection to the hose. Thank you.
The quality of this item was less than expected overall. The top does fit securely, although it ""caves"" when pushed with enough force to secure it. The seams on the top are rough and markings from the mold are clear. The hose hole is not machine punched and it looks as if a second grader used a box blade to round it out....and it's not round. Good thing the hole faces the wall! But it matches the other Mayne Fairfield items I have...so it will have to do.
This hose bin will be quite useful, assuming that it can withstand our Florida sun long-term The pros: I expect it to be durable, though, as it is sturdy black plastic. It is certainly more than large enough for my needs. I use this bin to store a 100 foot collapsible water hose, and there is a lot of room left over. The lid protects the hose from the sun's UV rays, and there is a hole near the bottom of the bin, allowing the hose to emerge for attaching it to a water faucet. The cons: The mold used to cast the plastic is poorly designed, so that the lid, as received, was very difficult to remove and replace. Yes, the lid should fit tightly enough to prevent it from being blown off, but this was so tight as to be ridiculous. I had to shave off the edges to allow the lid to be removed and replaced with just a reasonable amount of effort. The manufacturer's representative said it would not be cost effective to get a new mold to correct the problem and suggested I use something like (I think) a carpenter's utility knife to shave away the plastic to get a better fit. Also, the hole for allowing the hose to connect to your water supply is considerably larger than needed for anything smaller than a fire hose. I fear that the excess opening will allow mice or rats, or even a snake, to enter the bin and make a nest there when it is not in use, so I suggest using a paver or a stone to close the hole when the hose is not in use. One other change I felt was needed was to drill a few small holes in the bottom of the bin, to allow any residual water from your hose to drain out. That may not be essential, but i did that, and other reviewers have done likewise. Although this could be improved, I have not found anything that appears to be better. I needed a bin with a protective lid, and reviewers of the many more decorative hose "pots" indicated that their pretty finishes and even the metal construction of the pot would too soon tarnish or corrode.
