Maytag - 17.7 Cu. Ft. Frost-Free Upright Freezer - White

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago. It freezes well, and that's basically what I was looking for. I bought this upright freezer to replace an old one that was no longer holding a required low temperature. This is the first time I've had a freezer that is self-defrosting, so I just packed it full to the back of the unit like I've always done and hoped for the best. I recommend reading the instructions first before filling this freezer because it has vents at the back wall that need to be unobstructed! The day after my new freezer was running I opened it to find ice accumulating around the inside of the freezer door frame. I retrieved the instructions and realized that I had pushed frozen items up against the vents. Rearranging the items on the shelves solved the issue. I assumed incorrectly that this freezer would have temperature controls that would show the temperature required for adequate frozen food storage. This freezer doesn't. The installer recommended it to be set in “the middle” and that's where it is. I'll need to purchase a freezer thermometer since I won't be able to tell if there's ever a problem with the freezer temperature. Technology has been around at least 16 years that can digitally show freezer temp every time you open the freezer door, because my almost 16 year old refrigerator/freezer has it. Another issue is that the instructions also say I need to check the drip pan under the unit every week or so. Not a problem unless I enjoy getting down on my hands and knees with a special 5-sided drill bit (truth!) to remove the vent cover. SERIOUSLY??. That vent cover, if necessary , should just be clipped on for easy access. I guess I'll be leaving off that cover permanently. So why did I buy this? I should have looked for those features when researching, but assumed most units would be up to date, and this one was at a good price. It works, it freezes, and it'll be more work to monitor than my one I only had to defrost once a year!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Maytag freezer on 6/24/25 after having another Maytag freezer for 10 years. However, this new one is a big disappointment! The freezer died in 3 months. Control panel no good. Not happy with this purchase at all!! Lost meats due to it not working. Will be out a freezer for at least 3 weeks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought 1 week ago to replace 13 year old that was failing. This one did not have pullout basket, but easy adjustable shelves. Direction. Look more like for a refrigerator with ice maker.miss alarm to show failure!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fron day one frost built up on inside surfaces. First repair man said nothing wrong, second was amazed at frost build up did something with the seal now waiting to see. if it works Very disappointing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Product has not worked yet, talked to 2 technicians and was determined it needed professional insite and have not received any further help or contact at this time, its been almost a month and a brand new unit will not work. I'm ready to give up.
