If you area a gamer and dont have the Xbox 360 then dont order this, you have to buy the hard drive seperate. however, it is a nice cheap alternative if your previouse xbox 360 is broken and your hard drive is fine. I did not want to send my xbox in for repair and it turned out my hard drive is fine. i ordered this popped in my hard drive and it works great!
This is a great system to have. I purchased it, havent had a problem. The only thing that you will need to buy is a XBOX Hard drive, even though it comes with a 256mb memory card which has held me over for some time now. At the time of buying this Arcade Console I didnt realize that you would need an hard drive right away, because some xbox games have add ons that you can download for free on Xbox Live. But, it depends on what you would Like to do with you system and how much cash you have to spend.
I Got This Version of the xbox 360 to replace my 1st launch dated 360 that died. (got the Ring of Death.) This arcade version is alot quieter and it runs cooler than my older one, it does seem to load a hair faster. It does have HDMI Output but no HDMI cables. I already have the 120 GB hard drive. With the HDMI and the bigger hard drive, I got myself a Elite Xbox 360 only white instead of black. Great Job Microsoft!
I play my 360 quite a bit, and with 3 roommates, it's almost always on, and I have only had 1 problem the entire time I have owned it. The only problem I had was when lightning caused a power surge and caused a RROD, which MS promptly fixed and/or replaced my 360. I know there are people who have had many problems with their systems, and it wouldn't surprise me if they misuse them or handle them roughly. It's not a toy. It's a sensitive piece of electronic equipment. If you treat it like you would a laptop or something like that, it will serve you well. I thoroughly enjoy my 360, and as someone stated before, it is well worth it to get the Xbox Live Gold.
Now I can take my gaming into new rooms because of the detachable hard drive. I switch in between my living room and my bedroom without disconnecting my whole gaming unit, just switching the hard drive. My wife likes it because it allows me to play in bed and stop falling asleep on the couch.
This was my second console, my first was bought 'refurbished' at one of thes game store, I wouldn't do THAT again...I bought ths when I sent my other unit in for repair. This one I bought new from Walmart? well three months now and no trouble at all of any kind. Basically, the RRod problem that xbox has or had was supposedly corrected, but I still from time to time see people buying newer unit that it happens to, the great thing is Microsoft definately stands by thier product and repairs or replaces thier unit very fast (so you have liitle time to miss it) and without question. The arcade model comes with all you need except the hard drive. Actually you don't NEED the hard drive to play games but you will at least need the small memory unit for game saves. If you are playing one of the NUMEROUS older xbox games (almost all regular xbox games are backward compatible, listed on the Xbox live site) you will need to download (free) the update from thier site before playing the older games and here is where you will need the hard drive. The only real difference between the ELite, Premium and Arcade versions of this system are what it comes with (peripherals/extras) the unit itself is the same mechanically speaking. I had the Premium And the Arcade.. The Premium has a silver door for the cd player and the ELite model is black, but the 'inerds' of all are the same. Unless you enjoy wasting money, just get the arcade model and buy the other things you'll want to go with it; hard drive, camera for Xbox live and a memory unit which I believe already cmes in the arcade set. Basically, this system is well worth the money, but it is also well worht paying for thier warentee which kicks in AFTER the manufacturers. (Microsoft covers ALL xbox 360 units for RRod (no matter HOW purchased with ot without reciept!) for three years from manufactuerer date for RRod, no questions asked. And if you treat your system well, little else can go wrong with it, but treating it well does NOT exclude you from RRod, I treated my unit better than a queen and still got rrod. (not the walmart purchased one thought) The Xbox LiVE feature is really great and constantly growing, you can now (or will soon) be able to rent Netflix movies right off the xbox 360 and you can already rent many great movies, tv shows, music vidoes and much more instantly online. Many companiesconsoles call themselves a 'home enterainment system, this one truely IS a family oriented home entertainment system. Keep your reciept if you get the warentee from walmart, the store associates will not be able to get you a duplicate which you will need for the codes numbers at warentee/repair time, but the very helpful corporate office will if you know the exact purchase date and with what card you paid (exact numbrs only) Don't be afraid to buy this great game system, just be educated, informed and thereby protected. it is a great investment that will pay you back multifold.Enjoy. And there IS NO PLACE BETTER THAN WALMART to get this great deal, NO I Don't work for them. Ialso own a Nintendo DS, that is great also, each one has their benifits and both have a great variety of games.
This is a good starter system for first time gamers or just to have for the family. If you or your kids are into gaming you will need more storage space, and in the end it will be cheaper just to purchase a system with more memory then to buy it later.
This is a great console if your are looking to just play games and have some fun. You will enjoy hours of playing this and tons of fun with xbox live. Meanwhile the elite is still the better buy if you want to have movies, music, downloads, etc on your console.
I liked this one too. It had classic games such as Pac Man. Even the Wireless Headset made a good communication while using Xbox Live. The arcade is all about games from the past.
I absolutely positively WOULD NOT recommend this console to anyone under any circumstances. We bought the white 360 console in February and got the "red ring of death" 9 months later. We sent it in only to receive a reburbished model that red ringed right after we put in Halo 3. We sent this one back WEEKS ago and still haven't gotten another one back. I purchased the black 360 Elite last weekend and have been very happy with it. The Elite has all of the "bugs" worked out and should be the console of choice for all potential 360 customers.
