I wanted to share Mountain House products with my kids so I bought scrambled eggs and bacon as well as granola and blueberries as Christmas stocking stuffers for my kids. On my camping / hiking trips your meals are always enjoyable. The variety of meals to choose is a plus. Knowing the quality of Mountain House and ease of preparation in a sometimes difficult environment makes them my go to meal.
They are on my shelf's of emergency foods along with some that might be close to ten years old. I'll try one of those and give you a review when I do.
Nice chunky & actual Scrambled Eggs with tiny Bacon Bits & that's virtually the full real ingredients, none of it is powder product. Very good tasting as is with little to no fluff-up or expansion, the cup of water required is just for re-moistening & most is drained right back out. Perfect for just 1 person, whether or not that person has anything else for breakfast or the meal. I prepared as instructed within the heavy Mylar re-sealing pouch. Which, rinses out very easily & cleanly to re-use as a waterproofing bag, doody-bag, trash-bag, carrying drinking water or mixed drink, the day's little catch, other meal leftovers, make-shift clean glove or insulated (by leaves# hand or foot mitten, buoy #tie a few together for a kid's swimming float or life-jacket), river message or item sender, etc.
I ordered the products in the morning and they were ready in a couple of hours. I also enjoyed the eggs while backpacking so it was very effective
We had an electric outage a year ago and opened some of the individual meal packages. Grandson who was 19 wanted to try the Beef stroganoff. HE LOVED IT and it is good. I buy Mountain House for my sons, so they have food at their house if they have an outage or other disaster. The Eggs and Bacon are good too. Freeze dried is just that and will not be exactly like fresh cooked. These are all most like fresh cooked.
A few years ago at a sports shop I tried their sample of Mountain House freeze-dried food and found it delicious! I admit I hadn't tried any other brand of freeze-dried food but WHY? Once you find a winner...
Was fortunate to find your Christmas sale and purchased the #10 can of Scrambled Eggs with bacon at an excellent price. This was added to my preps and I look forward to making breakfast burritos with them.
I cannot review the taste as I have yet to taste it. One thing I can say is, this is the only bacon and eggs combination that I have found with a 30 year taste guarantee. Real eggs and real bacon. Mountain House also has very good reviews so i'm banking on their reputation in regards to taste.
It sounded delicious. The foam freeze dried tasting eggs and bacon did not meet my expectations. I usually love bland less spicey meals. This is ok for emergency, last resort. Even my spouse who hates spices felt this was way too bland. Sorry most stuff is good ( although salty) . Kids? May love this like "nasa" ice cream ( freeze dried vanilla ice cream sandwich) Maybe good selection for kids
Not for me, eggs tasted like they where still dehydrated. Smokey flavor which, I don't like. Bacon was crispy. Didn't like how you had to drain excess water out of bag. Like a mushy mess. Might be better with some bread and hot sauce.
