Salted Pollock Fillets BACALAO STYLE Our Panamei Salted Pollock Fillets are dried and salted, a centuries-old technique used to preserve nutrients. Handling Recommendations: Before cooking your favorite salted fish recipe, you must de-salt the fillets by soaking them in water for 6-8 hours, changing water at least three times during that period. ? For lower salt content, change water more often. ? This product must be kept refrigerated. If frozen, do not refreeze after thawing. Directions: Desalt the fillets following the instructions above. In a sauté pan over medium heat, add olive oil and cook the onions, peppers, tomato, garlic and olives with the bay leaf, for about 5 minutes. Add the pollock fillets and the water, continue cooking for 10-15 minutes until fish is done. Season with salt (only if needed) and pepper to taste.
