Powdery Tobacco sublimates the unique scent of tobacco leaves. Fruity and sweet honey facets of tobacco are highlighted, and lit up by a touch of ginger. Then, the fragrance unfolds at the base for more depth thanks to vanilla, tonka bean, and gourmand notes of dry fruit and cacao. Opulent, highly qualitative, and assertive, Powdery Tobacco perfectly reinvents the cozy atmosphere of the lounge in a London club. Top Notes (The first notes you will smell when you spray the perfumes)Tobacco, Ginger, Apricot Middle Notes (Take longer to evaporate & establish the "characterisitic notes" of the perfume)Honey, Vanilla, Cacao Base Notes (These notes evaporate slowly, making the smell last long)Tonka Bean, Dry Fruits, Blond Woods

I love the smell of this! It's very strong for me but I remembered getting an email about layering fragrances. So I put on Oriental Tobacco, Gourmand White Flowers, then another layer of Oriental Tobacco about 3 minutes later and VOILA! The perfect heavy but light scent that lingers lightly in my bedroom and on my skin without being too heavy. It's perfect! I am still considering my "signature" scent to be Floral Pink Pepper" but this layered combo is a really nice woody combo for the fall season. I have a nice honey and shea butter body wash and lotion that I use as a base and I think that brings out the honey notes in this too...maybe it doesn't. But I know it doesn't compete or override with the OT and GWF. It smells heavenly!!
This fragrance always brings me loads of compliments from perfect strangers! They want to know what are you wearing? So I tell them the fantastic deals they can get from Dossier on fragrances we might not otherwise "treat" ourselves to. The girls in my dentist office always say, "oh here she comes with her wonderful smelling self" when I have been there.
I should start by saying that I love vanilla, and this scent has mostly vanilla notes. However, the other scent notes make it feel more adult and sexy than a basic vanilla. I have ordered a few different Dossier scents, but this is the one I grab every single day. Many scents tend to turn into a powdery smell on my skin, but this one blends perfectly with my natural scents. I am so happy I tried Oriental Tobacco!
I do not know the original scent to compare, but this scent on its own merit is very nice! It has a depth to it that is likely the tobacco and the mix of the scent of vanilla and what I believe to be the ginger. The scent starts strong and then mellows which allows for you to wear it without singeing someone's nostrils. Received a lot of compliments from strangers on this scent.
On initial spray, it’s a flood of spices and bright tobacco. Reminds me of walking into a tea shop and I adore it. After about three hours, it dries down to a really bizarre vanilla. Not cloying, but sweet and comforting. I haven’t smelled the original Tobacco Vanille, but this has definitely captured how other Tom Ford fragrances create a total scene that unfolds on your skin.
I have been searching for the perfect balance of a spicy, warm, gourmand. Basically my favourite whiskey in a perfume. I don't like my fragrances too floral... I find them boring, sweet & cute but lack the spice! Hence, why I favour Orientals. After trying the real Tom Ford I was pleasantly surprised to see Dossier had a dupe. On the real, the Dossier version is on point! Much more of a gingery top note, which is quite lovely. Yet, dries down on my skin beautifully. I love the warmth of the vanilla & the richness of the tobacco!!! This has the perfect balance of spice & everything nice with a side of mystery & intrigue!! Well done!!
I'm shocked how similar It is to the original, and for the price I love it! It's very strong and last an extremely long time. The only down side is that it's VERY strong and if you spray more than one spritz it can get slightly nauseating after a few hours on the skin.
When I first smelled this, I was a little disappointed. I felt that it almost had a menthol-adjacent quality that I didn't like, and it seemed to persist after the dry down. I've since sprayed it on again on a day when I didn't really have anything to do or anywhere to go, wanting to give it a fair chance. I would say that the initial scent still has that herbal quality (perhaps from the tobacco notes?), but the fragrance is much warmer, sweeter, and more pleasant on the dry-down.
Smells amazing but doesn’t last at ALL, I spray 6 sprays on my pulse points and can’t smell it after 20 min, I had such high hopes but will not repurchase. I did see others felt there was no lasting power to this fragrance, I don’t know if other scents would be longer lasting but I don’t want to waste money trying, I’ll stick to my Juliet has a gun vanilla and just pay the high price!
Received Oriental Tobacco by Dossierand also Sweet Smoke by Alexandria Fragrances and compared them to Tobacco Vanille. No comparison at all. Sweet Smoke was spot on richer and long-lasting while the Dossier was an extremely light “influenced by.” I gave away the Oriental Tobacco without any regret and kept the much better “Sweet Smoke” by Alexandria Fragrances.
