I bought this unit to dry up my damp basement. In one week it made a very significant difference and I could set up the unit directly on the floor because of the automatic drain pump in the unit. Very convenient and easy to set up.
This unit has a quiet fan with 2 speeds and a thermostat for reduced cost of running. It has various options for eliminating of condensed water: a bucket, a hose attachment, a direct drain into your basement floor drain, and a auto-pump system which will pump out the water from the bucket when it reaches a certain level, with a supplied special small-diameter hose up to 20' long. A very good purchase.
This item is amazing. I had 2 Haiers both burnt out on me in less than 2 years. They were a nuissance with the buckets and the hose never worked right and if you went away for a weekend a water mess. This is wonderful pumps down the sink or if you have a floor drain will require no hose another wonderful feature. Very satisfied with this purchase and recommend to all YOU WILL BE HAPPY
The thing worked right of the box and within two days it controled the humidity in 15 x 25, very damp room. It has reduced humidity from 70% to 40% and keeps it there. I bought this model for the "pump" feature, which allows me to drain to laundry sink. After 1 month operation, I'm very pleased!
Excellent unit Royal Sovereign has EXCELLENT customer service. I had a small problem and Royal Sovereign took care of it the same day. THey had an answer and that was it. Excellent....... If you haveit shipped use Fed EX - Not UPS - UPS may have a LOCAL problem But it is a problem
THE UNIT IS LIGHT, COMPACT AND QUITE COMPARED TO OTHER SIMILAR PRODUCTS I HAVE USED. IT IS USED IN AN EQUIPMENT ROOM CONTINUOUSLY. WAS VERY EASY TO SET UP. JUST UNPACK, FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS AND PLUG IT IN AND SET THE ADJUSTMENTS AS DESIRED. I AM USING A GRAVITY DRAIN LINE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. NOTICED A SUBSTANTIAL DIFFERENCE IN THE HUMIDITY LEVEL THE NEXT MORNING. THE UNIT IS PERFORMING AS EXPECTED / SO FAR GREAT.
Had the BDH-450 for about 2-weeks now and it works as promised. Much quieter than my previous dehumidifier and the pump function works flawlessly. The automatic defrosting, digital controls and two fan speeds are great additions that I wasn't expecting to find at the price. A little inconvenient that I couldn't just buy it in-store, but I'm glad I waited for the order to arrive.
I was afraid to buy this unit, because previous reviewers said it didn't run, even though they knew the humidity level in the room was higher than the setting programed into the machine, or it ran but it didn't drain. Here's the thing - you set the humidity level you want to maintain, let's say 45%, and then the unit cycles on and off periodically (to keep the insides from freezing) until it senses that the humidity in the room is less than 45%. At that point, it shuts off until it senses that the humidity in the room is above 45% again. That's why it doesn't run constantly until the desired humidity setting is reached. If it did, the insides would freeze. While it's running, it stores the condensation that accumulates until a certain level is reached and then it pumps it all out at once. That's why you won't see water draining constantly if you stand there and watch it work, unless you happen to be there when the pump kicks in and drains the water. The only reason I didn't give it a better rating is because I wish it had a humidity gauge showing the ambient humidity level, so you know where you stand. That way you would know for sure that the reason it isn't running is because it's in a resting phase, or because it's set at 45% and the ambient humidity in the room is 40% at that time. I happen to have a humidity gauge (cost about $15) which I put in the room with the unit, to see how well it's working, but I wish there was one built into the unit, so I could use my gauge in another area in my house.
Box arrived and was noted with loose taping (looked as if opened and retaped), and box itself in bad shape with a hole in one corner. Machine was dirty, loose screws found in bottom of box. The "hose" they said was included was a very small diameter tubing that appeared with rough cut ends. The website also stated the machine had a one year warranty but there was a sticker on the box that said 90 day warranty. I didn't want a dirty machine in my home so I immediately took it to a local Walmart for return. Very disappointed.
Plugged it in and nothing. Could not get anything at all from it. Its going back to Walmart just as soon as I can get it back.
