I'd used alot of phones. Nokia, Blackberry bold, even a Windows phone. which broke down 3 weeks of using it. i Honestly love this Samsung phone. like its awesome for gaming, watching videos, texting hours long, multi tasking, video chatting, music. and there are some also really REALLY cool features like air gestures, screen mirroring (which i use ALOT) , smart scroll. and soo on. this device is AMAZING. i even got it for my dad for his birthday and he's been loving it as well.
I am pleased to be the first to review this phone. It is great!! Not too big, not to small. Fits right in my hand. Very light. I switched from HTC Sensation 4G, so the interface I would have to get familiar with. Overall great camera. Best I ever seen upgrading from 8MP which is/was very popular until this phone..Very pleased!
It's hard to begin somewhere regarding my experience with this phone, so I'll start at the hardware and work my way down. Upon opening the box and holding the phone for the first time, it felt like plastic alright but not as cheap as everyone's making it out to be. The material felt good to hold, there were no sharp edges nor any discomfort in my grasp: overall it felt like a solid product. The best feature on this phone happens to be its screen which is a full 1920x1080p resolution with a Super AMOLED panel that gives super saturated colors and deep black levels that seem to blend in with the bezel of the device itself. Software is... well it's Android with the familiar touchwiz overlay on top. In my opinion the touchwiz interface compared to any other Android skin is a much more organized and is very well put together, not to mention that the communication between hardware and software is very snappy and fluid. The camera is definitely the Galaxy S4's strong point as it is pretty much a mini version of the Galaxy camera crammed into a very slim smartphone. The camera app has so many picture modes at your disposal it pretty much puts every other smartphone camera to shame. During bright daylight the camera delivers amazing high quality pictures that not only have very accurate color representations but also very detailed and defined pictures as well. However in low light situations it doesn't fare as well as the competition, and you might find yourself changing the flash setting form auto to on. As for all the bonus features that Samsung crammed into this device such as Air Gestures, Air View, and so on and so forth; its no doubt fun to use and sometimes quite helpful but keep in mind these are just novelty features that you might forget even exist long after you've owned the device. All in all, the Galaxy S4 is a great phone (and in my case) a needed upgrade from the Galaxy S2. If your coming from the Galaxy S3, I would like to point out that the screen on the Galaxy S4 is by itself a great reason for an upgrade but again it's an opinion. I would advise that you try out the phone yourself before buying it to evaluate whether its an incremental upgrade for you.
The Galaxy S4 has been the most reliable and best performing phone I've owned so far, and as a mobile applications developer, I've been through just about every manufacturer's handset more than few times. The S4 is the right size, it has the right balance of features and style, a superior ancillary architecture which complements the super-fast snapdragon processor and screen clarity and resolution that is bright, sharp and even after several generations of competition is still nearly perfect. The phone is so good, and so close in performance to its next generation model, the S5, I've held off upgrading, which probably doesn't make Samsung quite as happy as it might be. Still, it makes me happy, and that's what I'll remember when I eventually do need to replace it for a bright, shiny new model. Thanks, Samsung, for making a great product.
I have had the S4 for about 2 months. I really enjoy the battery life and performance. I convinced my brother to upgrade from the Galaxy 4G to the S4 and he loves it.
It takes clear and beautiful pics. The screen is large and in charge.
The phone is excellent. The face is a great size you can actually see your icon's. The cameras take good pictures, you can adjust it with a touch of you fingers. The talk and text is wonderful for hands free texting. music program and speaker are great you can hear your music thru the phone and not have to by another set of speakers. You got the access to the internet. Get the weather, the new, email's etc. Google did a get job with the software. It's a Great phone for anyone who is getting a smartphone.
I was an owner of the Samsung Galaxy S2 and loved that phone. It functioned well, was relatively fast and overall reliable. When I took the leap to the Galaxy S4 I expected greatness. Well, unfortunately it fell a little bit short of that. I didn't notice any big speed increase that I was hoping for compared to the S2. I did however notice a big change in heat transfer when having the screen on for long periods of time. My S2 would get pretty warm when the screen was on for a long time, like watching videos. The S4 seems to stay pretty cool, even on long videos. Being able to use two applications on split screen is a great idea, but limiting the apps that you can use makes this feature a lot less attractive to me and I rarely use it. I do like the fact that you can be watching a video clip and then take it with you into other apps. The video is a fixed size, but it's pretty cool to watch a video clip and continue to use other apps at the same time. I also have to give credit where credit is due, while using the camera you can take two shots simultaneously, one from the front camera and one from the back and then it blends them into one picture. That creates some pretty interesting shots. I also find the 13 MP camera to be a big upgrade in quality and the amount of options is pretty impressive to me. Overall, I am happy with my S4, but I think I was expecting a huge leap in performance that just wasn't there for me. There is definitely enough new technology in my S4 to keep me from missing my old S2. I will continue to enjoy This phone for a long time to come.
It has some display glitches for example, when i sometimes boot it up the screen turns purple.
It is fast, sleek, nice, responsive and the os isn't too obtrusive. The downside is the gorilla glass 3 which scratched significantly within the first week. My s2 lived under the same conditions and was fine after a year. So protect it, expect it to scratch or hope there was a manufacturing defect.
