I use this unit in my garage and in my 17 foot motorcycle trailer. This unit cools and heats both with no problem. the exhaust fits thin wall 4 inch pvc pipe, which allowed me to place it anywhere I wanted it.
The portable air conditioner and heater is very useful and can be used in various situations and locations! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a small space heated or cooled.
While this product is a little noisy, since the fan runs all the time, it's a good value. I'm suing it in a room about 1/2 the size that it says it will heat/cool, and it's on a low setting (for heating right now) and it's very warm and comfortable. The noise is a little annoying, but it's worth it to have the room very comfortable.
Bought the unit in july 07 and have used it during summer. Use it in a 650sq appartment and the unit can keep the appartment cold during the hot days, but you need to start it before your appartment are 90. It is very low power. 850Watts, so it will work on your 15Amp fuses. I bought the unit with heater and it provide very good heat. Since our appartment are heated with Electric Oven, I hope that this unit will save money during the winter. Noise is like a hotel aircondition. SunPenTown WA-1010H is the same model as the Amcor AL-10000-EH , but I believe Amcor have better warranty. Window mounting kit is not very good, just two pieces of foam. I ended up making a window kit of plexiglass.
When I ordered this product I was expecting it to take the heat off my daughters bedroom by a little, so she could sleep. But, after installing the product and put it to use I was surprised to find out that it cooled the whole room with no problem. She no longer complains she can not sleep because of the heat, but she has to turn it up so it doesn't get too cold in her room. I recommend this product to anyone that wants to fight the heat of summer.
I was a little worried about buying a product without significant reviews (and one of them was that the unit had shipped with a broken wheel), but I knew I could return it if it didn't work to my satisfaction. I live in a large studio apartment that is hotter than any other unit in the complex (the parking is directly below me, and that traps the heat in my place). I was so tired of enduring 90+ degrees at nite (in the middle of summer), that I finally decided to buy this. I love this product. It keeps my space very cool, even on the hottest of days. Since I don't have a regular window in the living space, I had to put it in the sliding glass door....I just keep that cracked enough for the exhaust hose to rest against the screen, and then I cut two of the plastic blinds at the very bottom so the hose would fit right in there. Works like a champ. Sure, it's a little noisy....but I don't mind that at all.
My law office in downtown Louisville is 1,800 sq. ft. and does have central heat and air. I bought this unit because, due to the layout of my office, there are 2 hot spots and cold spots the central system does not cover well enough. I wanted this unit as a supplement to the existing central system. I have run the unit in both heat and cool modes and overall I am quite pleased with it. It works pretty much as advertised (I note it is rated for 250 sq. feet for those that may be using it as a sole means of heating or cooling). I give the unit 4 stars instead of 5 for 2 reasons. First, the window mounting kit is just tape and 2 pieces of foam 24" wide (one with a hole for the exhaust tube) and could be better. Be prepared to be creative when mounting the exhaust tube thru your windows. Second, if you need to drain water from the unit, the water drains from a hole in the back that is only about 2 inches above floor level. Since water will not drain up, I will have to use a pie pan to drain the unit (or mount the unit on an end table to allow continuous draining). I wish the drain hole could have been located a bit higher, but this may not be possible. I should add I have run the unit 24/7 for a week and it has not needed draining yet. Bottom line is I am happy with unit and will likely buy 2 more before Christmas for the house. I do recommend it.
I bought this product to cool my garage which is not insulated. I have to leave the product on all night for it to actually cool down to the garage and only for a few hours. My garage is 16X24 so it is rather large. If this were in a smaller room and insulated I believe it will work great.
This product works well for my small home. I can't have anything over 120v so finding an AC that would help cool my home that didn't use all the windows was a feet. But this is perfect it is 120v and I can move it around to where I want it to cool, if my family is is the family room it can go there, if we are just hanging out in the living room it can go there and we arn't confind to just one spot in the heat of the summer. It was well worth the money spent. I can't wait to use the heater in the winter!
The unit cools well, but is horrible at heating. The compressor shuts itself off after an hour, and will not come back on for at least 30 minutes. Sadly, an hours worth of heating with the unit raised the temperature about 4 degress in a 10' X 10' room, which was lost within a few minutes of it shutting itself down. Do yourself a favor, buy seperate units for heating and cooling, and leave this piece of junk alone.
