This is not disruptive as I had feared and has collected cups of water in about only ten days. Nothing in my new room is damp now and it takes up very little space in order for this.
I am very happy with this dehumidifier's performance! I was having some dampness issues with my basement and needed a compact, affordable dehumidifier. Does this little sucker ever fit the bill! It is very quiet but efficient, and you can't beat the price. I wouldn't recommend buying just one for dehumidifying your entire home, but I would recommend getting a few and placing them in different rooms. One works very well in a small space--a bathroom or half of a large basement, for example. I would definitely recommend this product and may buy another in the future.
I recommend this product if you have a lot of moisture in your home. It really works! I was skeptical at first, but after seeing the water in the tank, I'm a believer. It reduces the bad moldy, musty smell in your house and keeps the mold from returning. I believe our house is too tightly insulated and that is what is causing the mold and bad smells. But with this product, it's gone! We will most surely be buying a larger one for the rest of the house.
My bathroom is very humid and my shower curtain mildews and towels don't dry. With this unit running everything stays dry. In the short time since it arrived it is nearly full of water. It does a great job for the money and its size. I had the old one for more than 3 years. It still works except the AC adapter doesn't work and I couldn't find any replacement on line.
This is a small dehumidifier meant to be used in small space and if used in a small space it works great. Low profile so it doesn't take up a lot of room. I used it in the bathroom and it does a good job. Easy to empty and tucks up close to the wall. I like it. On this product I'd have to say my name is ToniIsHappy.
We have a workroom in a finished basement that is about 7' high by 28' long and about 5' wide, or close to 1,000 cubic feet located off an entertainment room with a closed door that has a vent. After about five days the generous water tank is already half full, the unit very quiet and uses no compressor or coolant. It is thin so it fits almost anywhere. And it has a hide-a-way handle for easy movement to a bathroom sink for simple water removal. What's not to like with a price of around $59. We had bought two crystal static dehumidifiers for $28 each that have a window that turns pink when the crystals have soaked up all the water allowed, the units then required to plug into an AC outlet to change the crystals back to blue. In that 24 hours period, which is what you need for a deep blue color, the units get almost hot seeming to use a lot of electricity to get the water out. While it said the crystals lasts for thousands of charges, they turned pink within three days. So out of four days, they are only working for three. The Sunpentown Mini SD-350 on the other hand works 24x7 and uses a low amount of electricity for what it does with the rating of a 60-watt filament light bulb.
This worked well in my indoor porch. Although, it made a loud rattling noise. I will exchange it for another, as I really like the compact size and look. The fill tank is very easy to remove and empty. The battery pack (for the plug in) does get rather warm, but I think that's normal.
We have only used it once and tested it in the humid bathroom. It took down the humidity by 10 points so we are satisfied that it works. We plan on using it in our travel trailer so I will have more feedback at a later date. I would warm that the transformer gets hot so there is a need to put something like a coaster under it to keep the counter from getting discolored due to the heat it puts out. We will be putting a ceramic coaster under our unit.
I purchased this dehumidifier for a well insulated, 12' x 7' room in my basement (with a door). The dehumidifier ran for several days, and did collect some water in the tank, but the humidity didn't decrease (I have a humidity indicator). I tried it in an upstairs bedroom (9' x 10') and it worked OK, but didn't collect much water. If you have a closet or small bedroom this dehumidifier might be OK, but it just is too small for most jobs. It is well made and easy to drain the water from the large tank. I returned it to Walmart for a refund.
I am not really happy with this device because it isn't pulling the moisture out of the air in the tiny room it is housed in. I have a cellar area underneath my front stoop and there is a lot of moisture in the air in there. My old dehumidifier of a different brand and type, took out tons of water out of there and this new one has been running for a week now and still hasn't filled the tank once and it is a small tank. I can feel tons of moisture still in the air and not happy with the product. I also think that when I go to empty this tank, the drain hole is RIDICULOUSLY small. Poor design.
