I have had this humidifier for over a year now. I have used it on several occasions. It does not have an on/off switch. Which would be nice. I have not had any problems with it leaking. When storing it I make sure to take the lid off and allow it to completely dry. Additionally, if I have let water set in it for more than two days I will put about a tsp of bleach in the water and run it to clean. This has helped prevent mold or mildew growing on the unit. In my opinion I have gotten exactly what I have paid for. It is about half the price of other brands and it is simple to use.
Love this humidifier! I was able to find one on Mercari, but I wish Vicks still made them. It's great for people in dry climates that want a heavier mist than the ultrasonic humidifiers offer and people that like the humming/loud fan noise as white noise. Some people find it annoying, others find it soothing. If you want something quiet, go for an ultrasonic humidifier. If you want the noise, this model is for you! It's also easy to clean and durable. The tank is made from that slightly transparent, texturized plastic they have been using for the hot steam vaporizers for years. It holds up! As someone who dislikes throwaway products and wants to buy a product and keep it for years to come, I appreciate the quality of materials and craftsmanship!
I got the vicks cool mist humidifier as a christmas gift and i dont like it. It blows cool mist and doesnt have a vicks smell and i cant put any vicks liquid in it. Im taking it back to walmart and exchange but i dont have a receipt but they still should let me exchange it.
We got this as a gift for our baby shower and are really disappointed with it. My biggest problem is, that the humidifier doesn't use all the water, it stops making steam when there is 2+ inches of water left in the bottom of it. There is no on off switch. The plastic piece that the mist comes out of falls off and doesn't fit back in nicely. It doesn't dry out/clean nicely either. Other Vick's models are better.
We have had this for about a year, used once for a few days. It did work fine for the few days we used it. I just got it out to use again and the top blue piece is all crusty and moldy. I guess the humidity gets into the crevices of the machine and its so disgusting. You can't clean it either because the directions say not to get the top part wet because of the motor. It's pretty much trash after one use. Don't waste your money.
First of all this humidifier does NOT have an ON/OFF switch as the review suggests. Second this item was missing pieces (no vent on front). Not worth it. I ordered a similar one for less money on Amazon.
