[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was half expecting these earphnes to die out on me. Either the battery or the ear piece, sound quality, general electrical faults. But no, nothing. I'm happy with the money I spent on these. I just hope the current models are made with the same quality control they were 2 years ago so you can enjoy them the same I have. This is not an audiophile earphone btw, please note the sound is not true and comes out boosted. I have no issues with this since my purpose for these headphones is not to produce or do sound engineering work but rather enjoy music in various scenerios. I bought these as travel companions and as a traveling consultant can honestly say they have been my best friend during lonely times. Music has kept me sane and the catalyst to escaping reality into my own imagination has more than been fascilitated by these beauties. Highly recommend... Keep up the hard work Bose <3
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Work outside in hard condition From heavy rain too - 30 snow storms Really impressive buildings quality. I can break everything not manged to break these yet after 3 years of owning them. Must buy for working round motor vehicles such as snowmobile.
After 14 months use the noise cancelling switch on the battery failed. I know the battery is charged BUT the noise cancelling switch just clicks backwards and forwards and nothing happens. I've ended up with a VERY expensive set of earbuds of dubious sound quality.
Had 2 sets of these over the last 3 years, both have failed just over their warranty and Bose will not fix - can't justify buying a 3rd pair that only lasts 18months with intermittent use (only when flying). The last pair and making a very loud squeking noise in one of the ears. Disappointed with these as now having to look for other options after being a Bose loyal customer for years.
This review is not a complaint against Bose noise cancelling technology, which is a lifesaver in noisy environments. Rather I am concerned the product is susceptible to some kind of ground loop interference when used with powered devices. I had the first version of the QC20i with the gray accents, however it malfunctioned after 3 years, developing a static in the left earbud. Bose was kind enough to replace for a reduced price despite the product being out of warranty. However, I have now had two replacements both of which have a potential design flaw. When the noise cancelling feature is used with a computer that is plugged in (for example a laptop that happens to be charging) an annoying ground loop buzz occurs at a frequency of about 60hz). Touching the laptop case interrupts this interference making it disappear. Worth noting is that the problem does not occur when used with a laptop operating off battery power alone, or when the headphones are used with a phone. The first QC20i version I had previously did not have this issue. I don't believe this is an isolated issue and have read reviews that others have experienced the same problem. Yes, Bose noise cancelling technology is fantastic when it works properly, but the inability to use this feature with a computer that is plugged in or has an external monitor hooked up leads me to hypothesize that the product suffers from some kind of design flaw. I tried the headphones with multiple laptops and computers to accurately troubleshoot the problem and rule out the potential for the audio output source being the issue rather than the headphones themselves; the problem occurs across multiple devices. I went so far a to purchase a ground loop isolator to see if that would fix the problem, which it did not. Perhaps the two replacements I received are just from the same faulty batch? or perhaps there is a deeper underlying engineering problem. For anyone experiencing a similar problem, perhaps the newer bluetooth models are a better choice.
