VTech Digital Audio Monitor with Night Light (DM221)

This monitor works as advertised. What I dislike is the charging time of the parent monitor. It takes forever. I've resorted to finding a long extension cord to keep it powered up. It really is a pain to use it cordless for this reason. I've had plenty of cordless home phones that stayed charged longer and recharged faster. The child monitor must be plugged in always, it's not rechargeable, so if going visiting make sure you bring both chargers.

I am taking care of my 89 year old Mother. I have cameras everywhere to make my life easier. However, I do not want a camera in the bathroom. This is PERFECT in the bathroom. I can hear when she flushes the toilet and if she needs me and calls for me, I can hear her even if I am upstairs. You have no idea the peace of mind this gives me. It has a two way speaker so I can talk to her and tell her I am on my way to help her. This eases her mind as well. You just never know when someone with dementia might be sitting on a trash can instead of a toilet and can not get up!! That is what prompted me to put this in the bathroom.

I liked everything about it except the volume on the Parent Unit. It needs to have an eight or so instead of only Five. I use it to monitor my sick wife. I get up early in the morning to do chores and I need to hear Her when she awakes to help Her get out of bed.

This baby monitor is great. It has exceptional range and a built in night light feature. One cool thing about it is that the night light shuts off when it has been silent for about 10 minutes, however with noise (such as a baby cry) it automatically turns back on. This feature is great for comforting a newborn child, such as my own. My little guy loves the white noise from a fan - this monitor drowns out the white noise and only transmits sounds my son makes. This is a great deal - a great monitor - and some real comfort while I'm around the house handling chores.

It's a pretty simple monitor. It was easy to figure out. It does everything I need it to. It has a very clear sound, no static or interference. Good sensitivity and volume settings.
