This was the first Cuisinart stand mixer I have purchased. It was and excellent price. I couldn't be any happier with this purchase. I works very well. It's also very quiet. I also purchased the meat grinder. Excellent also. Makes my baking experience easier. Very happy with all my Cuisinart products.
I decided to buy a stand mixer because while I still enjoy baking and cooking, I lack the hand and arm strength to mix heavy bread, cake, and cookie doughs by hand or to cut butter into flour with a pastry blender. I did some comparison shopping and liked the reviews I saw on the Cuisinart Precision Master 5.5 Quart mixer. So far, I've been impressed with the power of the mixer for big jobs like blending and kneading dough and cutting butter into flour, and the overall performance of the mixer. I also found a Facebook page dedicated to the Cuisinart stand mixer with recipe and tips. I would suggest that Cuisinart promote the different Facebook pages dedicated to the different Cuisinart applicances - there are some good tips on those pages. For example, someone wrote how disappointed they were in the Precision Master's ability to cream butter and sugar. She was using the flat paddle to do this and was not happy with the results. People on the FB page quickly told her that she should use the whisk instead of the flat paddle to cream butter and sugar and switch to the paddle to incorporate the dry ingredients. I'm glad I saw this tip! I was also very surprised to see that people use the mixer for meatloaf and to shred chicken! Those things are on my list of things to try with this appliance. I've been very pleased with everything I've done with the mixer which includes breads, scones, cookies, and pizza dough. The dough hook is amazing!
I received this mixer for my birthday after years of rationalizing NOT needing one and comparing it to the other very popular brand of stand mixer. All of my kitchen power tools are Cuisinart, and I trust the quality of the brand. I don't know how I ever lived this long without this in my kitchen. I find myself baking more frequently and making things I otherwise would not have made without the aid of this mixer. I have used it for mixing various cookie doughs, cake batters, some fairly heavy bread doughs, and to blend seasoning and other ingredients into ground meat (a process which also texturizes the meat), as well as experimenting with different types of meringues and buttercreams. The motor is a powerhouse-- it has never struggled with any recipe I have thrown at it. The speed dial is very easy to locate and adjust without having to look. The bowl, attachments, and motor unit are solid and sturdy-- there is nothing flimsy about this machine. It is easy to clean and looks beautiful in my kitchen (I got the red model). I look forward to purchasing the pasta attachment for the mixer soon. The only bad thing about this mixer is that I have easily gained 15 lbs from all of the baking I've done. Instead of looking through cookbooks and wishing I had the time to make a certain cake or pastry, I can just get up and whip something together in 10 minutes (including clean-up). The price, the quality, the ease-of-use, and the aesthetics of this mixer should make it a staple in anyone's kitchen. I love it.
I recently purchased the cuisinart stand mixer and love it. You do have to stop and scrape the sides. But making certain frosting that require beating for like 10 minutes is sooo much easier now. Only used a hand mixer before.... but loving this and wish I had gotten one years ago! Looking forward to Christmas cookies time!!!!
I purchased this mixer a month ago, as I wanted to make gluten free bread. The dough is heavy and this mixer really does a good job of mixing the dough. It is easy to use.
