While I like the breakfast sandwich it produces I DISLIKE the floating cooking rings. They frequently come loose and you're left to deal with hot metal to put back in the brackets. I've burned my fingers a few times trying to wrestle a half cooked sandwich with oozing hot cheese back into the holder.
The sandwich maker worked perfectly the first two times i used it. The next two times, the raw egg leaked out all over the lower level and onto my counter. The egg did not cook and all the ingredients were ruined. I am going to try it one more time and if it fails again, I'm taking it to my local Walmart for a full refund.
The piece that holds and cooks the egg shifted a lot even without touching it. This caused the egg to slide down and not cook along with everything else. I only got one good sandwich out of this and it was only because I held the piece together to avoid shifting. Used once and retuned it right after.
My Darling Daughter was the first one to introduce to this to me. I was trying to understand what type of "sandwich maker" she was talking about. Finally I did some research and found this one. She said YES! We must get one. We mean her. I surprised her one day at her apartment with it. We made plenty of sandwiches. So I had to purchase another one. We love it. It has become a staple in our home!!!
Makes a great low-fat b'fast you can grab and go. Use lacey swiss or other low-fat cheese if fat is an issue for you. Lean ham, Canadian bacon, or turkey (or vegetarian) bacon; then use egg substitute or mixture of half egg, half egg whites. This is a lighter, cheaper and tasty alternative to the fast food egg hockey pucks. Use just half an English muffin, works fine without a 'top.' Eggs puff up souffle-style, it's yummy. Fast too, make up b'fast while coffee brews. Use pancakes, pita bread or naan bread. Or use slightly stale French or Italian bread - cooks up just fine. Excellent product. Kid-friendly and fun when you have overnite guests or slumber party (and faster than pancakes.) Good quality, washes in a flash, doesn't take up much counter space. Recommend. Not a gimmick, your family will use and enjoy this simple device.
