I'm disappointed that something carrying the Hamilton Beach logo could be such poor quality. I expected better.
Not quality merchandise for the price. Hard to detach and to put back on if you're using the handheld mixer. Overall dissatisfied with workmanship quality and performance
Does NOT have a low setting. The first click turns it on too high. Everything flies all over. Beaters are somewhat flimsy. I guess the price may reflect all this.
I owned the handheld version of this 12 years ago and loved it! The power and quality are great! I was looking for a stand mixer and didn't want to pay the high dollars for it. This was perfect. It does the job just about as good as the high dollar mixers. You do have to scrape the sides of the bowl a little more often, but not a big complaint. You can tell the stand is a little cheap and the button to tilt it is a little finiky. But as I said, it does the job and you can't beat the price. I could break this and replace this 7 times to equal the cost of the big name mixers, so to me it's worth it! My only real complaint is the quality of the attachments. I still have the attachments from my old mixer and you can tell the old ones are more heavy duty. I just use my old ones in there.
I recently read a bread label at the grocery store, and wasn't able to pronounce or understand what chemicals were being put in the bread. I decided $29 would be a reasonable amount to spend to make my own whole-grain bread. This mixer came with dough hooks, and I didn't have $200+ for some of the bigger kitchen centers. I find this little mixer is perfect for everyday things like muffins and mashed taters. If you have kids, or if you like to make batches of items to freeze(like I do), it's a bit small. I would recommend that you bite the bullet and upgrade to one of the kitchen centers. It takes practice to put the mixer on the stand. Be warned: there are three hooks/clips that attach the mixer to the stand. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you are going to make bread you cannot have the mixer attached to the stand. You run the risk of breaking the clips. When you use the mixer without the stand, it does a fine job. All the bread I've made has been excellent. And, the mixer has a flat end and stands well on its on. I recommend it for a beginner, as a wedding gift, or for an older couple(like us) who don't need a huge appliance.
