Installation is straightforward once you know the trick. The item ships with the piston unconnected, which is logical. The instructions advise refrigerating it for 30 minutes and then pushing it in. However, using a board to push against makes the process much easier. It works perfectly.

This worked for about 2 months and then the mineral or wax leaked out until it didn't work at all. I've seen the complaint many times on other reviews. After 3 months it stopped working. What's wrong with a bimetallic spring design, I had one 20 years ago that worked perfectly

Before installing these auto vents I was seeing temps close to 130 degrees before I could open the manual ones that came with my Essence Greenhouse. Now that these easy to install auto vents are in place 100 degrees is my more common max. As others have mentioned they do need to close faster.

I live in Bend, OR at about 3700 feet elevation. We plan to raise veggies most if not all of the year as we also purchased heater from Hayneedle (at a great price). We purchased the 6 by 8 with a auto roof vent. It took two of us about 3.5 hours to put it together. The directions are well written and easy to follow. We expect to get many years from this product and have has it set up for about one week.

I love the greenhouse and it turns out to be much more sturdy than I would have expected, but the installation documentation was confusing - could not always tell if a picture was giving you a view looking from the outside or a vie looking from the inside. A few words with the pictures would have helped to explain. Some of the parts did not have labels to identify them and one part was mislabeled.
