So far so good. Easy to set up. Full charge battery and I cut front and back yard in 1hour. Still got 80% left of battery.
I have had the mower for about 9 months. It takes some effort to push it, and as a senior citizen, that's an issue. I initially gave it a good rating, but I became dissatisfied with the product when the battery started wearing out about three weeks ago. I had to take it to a repair shop for a warranty replacement. The shop owner told me that the batteries in these battery powered mowers normally last one year plus one day, just enough to get them through the initial warranty period. I recall reading the description of this mower before I purchased it, and I think it said the battery should last for about 200 charging cycles. This one lasted less than 20. The price of the thing was pretty good, but if you have to buy new batteries every year, purchasing an "earth wise" lawnmower becomes unwise.
Overall, the mower works well when the battery can charge fully, but this is the beginning of the second season I've used it and it will not charge fully any more. I kept it charged throughout the winter. With each successive charge, the mower now runs less than the previous time. Now, when I mow my small yard, the mower will run for about 20 minutes - about half as long as last year. The warranty on the battery expired after the first season, so I called Walmart.com for return/exchange assistance, since the mower had become basically useless. After working through their phone tree, I reached a live customer service assistant who was very helpful and through a lot of effort connected me in a three way phone call with a person who identified himself as the president of Earthwise. He would not give me his last name, apologized for the problem and the only help he would provide was to sell me another battery for $97.11 (includes shipping). Walmart.com offered to refund $76.30 of my cost by making an adjustment on my credit card, so in order to be able to use the mower again, I purchased another battery. Walmart.com treated me fine and was very helpful, but Earthwise treated me poorly and told me that some of the batteries worked fine and others did not. If your mower has a defective battery, this product is a very expensive, nearly useless piece of equipment - because in order to use it you have to have a good battery. It's a gamble. I could have purchased a lot of gasoline for the price of the mower and the price of the additional battery. Don't make the same mistake that I did!
The mower's handle was manufactured incorrectly and cannot be assembled. Dead right out of the box. IF I get another, I'll update the review later.
I really was impressed with this mower. My lawn was almost knee high and I was able to cut my small yard with one charge. I read the other reviews before purchasing and saw that someone was not able to get the mower to work properly. I read the instructions and followed them. I didn't use the mower until a week after charging it and had no problem with it. After recharging it I mowed the front yard again because I had set the blade level at 4". I have to say that this is the type of mower all seniors who don't want to depend on relatives or friends to help them should purchase.
