Murray 22" 2n1 Side Discharge Push Mower

In a world that is becoming dominated by overpriced, self-propelled mowers it is nice to still be able to find a basic mower that gets the job done. Thank you Murray for offering a quality mower that is made in the USA at an affordable price! Our previous mower which was also a Murray (same size & features as this one) lasted 12 years before the deck finally rusted out because we left it out in the rain and didn't clean it as often as we should have. So while researching its replacement we were looking for a similar Murray but all we could find in stores were other brands that were mostly self-propelled with plastic gears that easily strip and baggers that do not mulch the clippings to put the nutrients back into the lawn. Luckily we were able to find & order this Murray online. I was a little disappointed at first because as others have said this mower didn't mulch very well in the beginning and it didn't seem to have enough power. I was patient & gave it a chance and it gradually started to mulch better as grass built up under the deck to help with the mulching action. By the end of the first cutting there were very few noticeable clippings. The second time using the mower there were almost no visible clippings left behind and it had plenty of power this time probably because the grass wasn't so tall that it bogged the engine down. I like that the wheels can be easily adjusted and that the engine is very quiet compared to our previous Murray. I also like that the mower is light enough to safely mow the steeper parts of our lawn. I am very impressed with the fuel efficiency. The Briggs & Stratton engine is slightly smaller than the one that was on our previous Murray and we can mow at least twice the amount of grass with this one on a single tank. I wish that the mower had an adjustable handle because this one seems to be made for taller people. The handle is approximately 2 inches longer & higher than our older mower which makes it a little uncomfortable for my 5' 3" build. I also wish that the mower had better wheels but I am happy knowing that I can easily replace the plastic wheels with metal replacements that have ball-bearings the same way I did with the last mower.

It took a couple pulls to get it to start the first time, but it starts right up every time since then. Works good on my medium/small yard.

Brought this as a second mower. Due to recent rains the lawn had become a hay field. No problem this mower went through that tall grass like nothing. Nice even cut and the mower was good on gas.

This mower was pretty much already assembled in the box - was ready to mow within minutes. Runs great and leaves my lawn looking wonderful! Just what I expected.....
