Frigidaire FAX052P7A - Air conditioner - window mounted - white

My husband and I bought 2 of these air conditioner units: 1 for our bedroom and the other for a storage building. These units cool really well. We use the one in our bedroom at night instead of our central air unit so that we can lower our electric bill.

I bought 2 of these because I have small odd sized windows and these are the only ones I could find to fit (Unit 15 7/8 without the side extensions). They are in two of the exact same sized rooms and for some reason one cools better than the other - still a mystery, but not enough to complain about. I'm cool, they work.

It gets cool, but it doesn't get COLD. (Which is probably a good thing so my boyfriend doesn't freeze me to death.) If frigid temperatures is your thing, I would probably go with something else. Otherwise, for a cooler, habitable room temperature, this works just fine.

This ac is quite the dynamo. I set the unit on high about half hour before bed (the room temp was 83), thinking I should do that because the room is larger than the 150 square feet noted on box. When I went into my room it was actually freezing in there! I set the unit now on lo-cool and it is wonderfully comfortable. The unit is no louder than the fan I had in the window previously. An added benefit is no dust blown into the room like with the fan, so I don't wake up sneezing. I recommend this unit.

It cools, but only with huge noise and the quality of manufacturing is about what you'd expect from an AC unit costing $100. In particular, the "accordian fins" on the sides of the unit are spectacularly unimpressive. But, as I said, it cools. And it's 90 with 100 % humidity today - so no, I'm not returning it.
