August Smart Lock is the best I've come across. I have three of them, making this one my fourth. The price for this version is the least expensive I've seen.

i have 3 of these locks. love them. my doors unlock as soon as i pull in the drive. One less step to get in the house with an arm full of groceries. These locks will tell you when they are unlocked and will tell you who unlocked them. they are compatible with your smart speakers

An easy installation. Clear instructions. Mechanically unreliable. App easily confused and out of sync with lock, incorrectly reporting lock status. I really wanted this to be as simple as advertised. Oh well. First time I've ever bought something from an advertisement. Last time

I am a loyal August Smart Lock customer. I purchased View/Chime as a result. However, it doesn't work. I am tech savvy and moved a router within 20 ft and had it on auto detect to work on 2.4GHz ( Lock works at that location). Notifications work great as does viewing history, but App crashes 80% of time when you try to go live and thats after 10-15 sec wait for it to wake up. I since purchased Ring and that meets/exceeds expectations. Better quality hardware and it simply works. The neighborhood feature is nice too. Sorry August, I really wanted this to work, but its not a viable product. Do not buy.

Installation was fairly easy, though I did face some issues. The sensor cap doesn't stay on snug and fell off and never found it after it fell. Perhaps our dog got a hold of it and ate it. I would've been great if it had a snap-on function and it would remain in place. So as it stands, it now presents a bare look rather than a clean blended look. Would be satisfied if a replacement was sent. Another issue was unlocking with my Apple Watch. It takes a moment unlike as advertised in the video. The lock randomly loses connect to WiFi. My setup if fairly extensive as I'm using one of the best gaming routers. Perhaps it's because it runs off of a 2.4 GHz system and prone to interference. Owned it just under a month and I live in a gated community so it does have it's added security feature of being able to remotely lock/unlock from anywhere around the world and compliments my home video security system.
