it is the same as all the other opinions. the back wheels broke and now i found out by walmart that they will not replace them. i have to pay 19.95 for a new back wheel and only cut my grass 3 times with it. DO NOT BUY THIS MOWER !!!!!!!

The motor is good but the tires are lousy. Three of the tires on our brute mower cracked then broke completely and finding a replacement for them is a big hassle. The rear tires you can find at Walmart for $23 in lawn and garden area, but good luck finding the front ones. I searched all over the internet finding no help or replacement parts of any kind. The mower runs fine but without the tires what good is it. My husband completely rehauled the bottom of the mower and put regular tires from another store on it to make it last since we paid $250 and only had for one season. Who has money to keep buying a new mower or new tires every season. I sure don't-please pass on this one.

This mower has a relatively quiet and strong engine, but it could probably use some improvement on wheel sturdiness. Also, maybe I was spoiled by the clean mulching performance of my 10 year old Yard Machines, but this one has tended to leave little blades/sprigs of uncut grass scattered around, especially if I don't walk really slowly. Maybe it's a design issue, my grass type, or that I got one with sub-optimal blade sharpness, or that it needs thorough, frequent cleaning or something (unlike my old one). But interestingly, the manual has a tip section on quality of cut that goes as far as recommending a second pass over "marginal" areas. Um, not sure I want to run around mowing parts of my lawn a second time. Think I'll see if a cleaning and blade sharpening helps.

The main reason I wouldn't recommend this mower is that I'm not sure how long the wheel mounts/height adjusters will last. They seem a bit flimsy for a mower named "Brute". Maybe they used a high quality metal alloy that is simultaneously durable and very flexible, but how likely is that? The mower seems heavier than average, and not quite as maneuverable as my old model, but to me that's a relatively minor detail. The plastic discharge covers do leak debris onto the deck when mulching. An annoyance, but hopefully not enough to prematurely clog the air filter. I'd have preferred a model with a more efficient overhead valve engine, to minimize "fossil hydrocarbon" usage and pollute as little as possible, but cost was a factor. After the first few hours, I'll switch to a reasonably-priced synthetic 10W-30 oil for cool weather performance and somewhat better fuel economy, without excessive oil consumption. I do like the quick, primer-free starting, and this mower has plenty of power for my purposes.

This mower has been great so far. Assembled easily, and was ready to go in no time. Started on the first pull with no issues. Its first mow for me was 1/3 acre of over grown grass and weeds. It cut right through it with ease. I used the bag because I didn't want a bunch of long grass thrown all over the place. I figured considering the length of the grass (some almost waist high) that I would have to empty the bag every 5 seconds. I didn't. I think the mower was determined to try and pack the whole dang yard into the bag. I didn't have to empty it near as often as I thought I would. It looks small but holds a lot. The gas tank could be bigger, but its not bad. I found it easy to push and manuver. The wheel haven't been an issue for me.
