[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lock looks great but touch to unlock is unreliable and needing to pull out keys defeats the purpose of buying an expensive lock. The tradeoff of bluetooth over wifi to save energy means the lock status can only be known or updated if you're near the lock, which again, defeats the purpose of a smart lock.
The touch feature is quite responsive to lock the door. But when unlocking the door, even after re-entering from more than 200+ meters, it sometimes takes more than 60 seconds wait time for Touch to Unlock the door even though I've set the duration for Touch to Unlock at 1 minute since entering the perimeter. Would want Level to support the Apple Home Key through the NFC to unlock ASAP.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The form of this product is awesome! It blends in incredibly well with existing hardware and looks amazing! I love the physical presentation of this product. The software, logic, and application could use some more attention. More often than not the auto unlock does not work and the status in the app is frequently different than the locks status (the lock is physically locked but says unlocked). I love this product and I feel with software improvements it would be the top smarthome lock.
I have three Level touch locks. I previously owned multiple versions of August locks. While the Level lock is more genuinely more difficult to install, my main issue with the bulky August locks was that guests weee unfamiliar with the locks. It made for uncomfortable moments when guests were trying to leave and could not figure out how to open the door. The familiar design of the Level lock makes it an cornerstone of any smart home. However, I wish the lock was Thread compatible, and worked with Apple HomeKey (neither works on the device currently).
The hardware is very well designed and manufactured, the installation was easy, but the software features and user interface are terrible. The touch to lock feature always activates as I am closing the door because my elbow touches the lock cylinder. The touch to unlock only works sometimes. The app frequently says that the lock is not available. I didn't use the automated features, i.e. the lock motor, for 6 months because of all the issues I had, and the battery died. The keycards never worked, and the geofence feature is too limited - it enables the unlock when I'm way too far from the door still. I bought the keypad to improve the functionality, and I do like the way it works. Hopefully it's batteries last longer.
