It will not work in our area, the trees keep it from getting a clear signal. We went through a MAJOR ice storm, no alarms no warnings, nothing. The antenna for this needs to be as tall as the trees. If I can return it I will. Menus are not set up well, controls are basic. Shocked that Midland put their name on it.

Exactly what I wanted! You can fiddle with it and set only the alerts you want it to squawk about. It still shows a light notification for those you have silenced. It's definitely loud enough to wake you up. Even with volume on medium. It has already proved its worth by notifiying me of a tornado in the area in the middle of the night, at least 20 seconds before my phone got around to it. And probably about 6 hours before I would have heard the notice from my “smart” speaker. XD … which, needless to say, would've been too late. Get one! It's ok to miss a wink of sleep now and then to stay in the know. Or else put it in your living room if you'd rather sleep through the tornado. At least it'll help you in the daylight hours.

A NOAA weather radio is an absolutely essential item to have for those of us living in severe thunderstorm and tornado country! Our old one wasn't working, so I was very happy that I could replace it quickly! It also fits in a small spot in my bathroom.

Easy to set up. Picks up a clear signal. I live in Northwest Georgia, just south of Chattanooga, TN. If you live around here you need something to give you a heads up on tornadoes. You could spend more money, but the function is the same. This device works just fine.

I received this item at 3:00 pm on 4/25. I followed the instructions, and it took me 15 minutes to set up. At 6:00 pm that same day, we had a thunderstorm warning. Fifteen minutes later, we had a tornado warning. Everyone in our community is ok, but this little machine is great! It did what it is supposed to do--alert you to weather emergencies. This machine was easy to set up, as long as you follow the directions within the booklet. You can't be without one of these machines. It may save the life of you and your family. Highly recommend!!
