The price point was great at the time of purchase. This machine gets overheated easily and it is very heavy. I have a black line on the screen within a month but I didn't want to go through the RMA process. Also I have all the latest bios and firmware. For me, the biggest issue with this laptop is that it constantly automatically shuts itself off without any warning when I started playing game. I play Heroes of the Storm which is not GPU / CPU intensive and really annoying when it happens (it happens very frequently even if I had turbo fan mode on / physical laptop cooler).
Have had this laptop, but only used it for school until recently I've tried some gaming, because that is what it is advertised for. Unfortunately this laptop can't handle it despite the specs because the laptop gets unimaginably hot even just on discord calls. Battery would start not charging. Checked power cord because my brother has the same laptop, but his actually works and doesn't seem to be a power cord issue. Sent it in for repair under the warranty and took about three months before I got it back. Nothing about it was fixed no parts were replaced it took them three months to factory reset the computer and call it a day. Nothing has been fixed quite literal trash at this point.
I definitely love this computer it's a good gaming computer for people who just wants to be a basic gamer it runs all my games very smooth and I recommend this to anybody who wants a good gaming computer. the keyboard feels nice and the graphics on the computer is awesome.
I've used this laptop now for two days and here are my pros and cons: Pros: - Screen: The 144hz screen is great and responsive. Probably the best feature of the laptop. - Performance: The GTX 1060 works really well. Definitely install the latest NVIDIA driver when you get the laptop. Haven't had a chance to stress out the i7 or the 16gb of RAM, but they both seemed to do well with all the Office programs running (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and several browsers loaded. - Storage: I really like the 256gb SSD + 1tb HD because I'm technical enough to know how to install OS-related programs on the SSD and games/programs/data on the HD. NEVER use default settings when installing games or programs! - Form Factor: The laptop is surprisingly thinner and lighter than expected. It even passed the Apple MacBook lift the lid with one finger test! - Price: For the price, this is a fantastic deal, for what is included. Cons: - Keyboard: If Walmart/OverPowered reads reviews, then hopefully they'll do something about the keyboard. I'm a touch typist, so I'm more sensitive to keyboard layouts than those who hunt and peck. This keyboard is unfortunately, one of the worst for touch typist. I'm also a gamer, and it is also bad for that too. My suggestion is to get rid of the numeric keypad, then use the space for a proper keyboard layout and standard key sizes. I typed this review on an external keyboard connected to the laptop. - Sound: For how nice the 144hz screen looks, the speakers are nowhere near as good. It's like seeing a gorgeous person, but when they talk they sound like they inhaled a helium balloon. Walmart/OverPowered - Just add a decent subwoofer then the sound will match the nice screen! Overall: Despite the built-in keyboard and speakers, this is still a great deal for a laptop. Fortunately, you can always add an external keyboard and speakers, which I've done. I also bought this laptop based on the Linus Tech Tips review. If you haven't seen it search YouTube for them and the Walmart laptop they recommended. Hope this helps!
I have used the laptop now for 3 weeks, for gaming and for work. Here is my take: Good: -beautiful graphics and screen -nice looking laptop and cool rgb lights -functions very smooth and quickly for the most part Bad: -runs slow when not charged during use. Games that can run on Ultra setting plugged in cannot even run on normal settings when unplugged. -speakers are super quiet. At max volume, I still can't hear them over my girlfriends laptop at half volume 7 feet away. Must use with headphones. -sometimes when you put the computer to sleep it will shutdown and crash your chrome tabs. Happened 3-4 times. -computer gets super hot after an hour. Must use with a laptop cooler pad -edges are sharp and yes it will cut skin as its scraped my legs multiple times -found my headphone jack to not work on 4-5 occasions. Rebooting fixed it in all cases. -mouse stopped working in the middle of gaming, it will stagger in and out and make the beep noise like its just been plugged in. The mouse has been tested elsewhere and works. Happened 8-10 times. -keyboard randomly stops working. Did not happen until 3rd week of owning it. All numbers and letters will stop working, while tab shift and only certain keys still work. Rebooting it fixed it on all occasions. Happened 3 times this week. In my opinion that's too many problems for 3 weeks of owning it. Not sure if its reflective on all the laptops or just mine is faulty. You get what you pay for I guess.
