I have a whole house full of the original Wemo plugs and switches but since this new plug is not compatible with the WEMO app, it's truly pointless to purchase. This is so idiotic. Looking for a different brand to upgrade to since Wemo has become so utterly unreliable over time. Buyer beware.
Was I sleeping? Did I miss an Email? I have over 15 WEMO plugs and now I can no longer use this app to control my additions. I don't what to use Apple HOMEKIT to control my plugs. So, if the install base that has non threading and use the WEMO app now has to move too HOMEKIT, nope, not this user. I am moving onto a different platform WIZ here I come.
I'm an owner of many wemo smart plugs - specifically the older prethread ones that connected through the wemo app. I find them extremely helpful and easy to use and recommended them to many family and friends. I recently needed another one and purchased the most current version that's connected via thread rather than Wi-Fi. While easy to connect, the device continuously stops responding and requires me to go unplug and re-plug multiple times a day. Not helpful at all.
I purchased this for my vacation home. to be controlled with my AppleTV 4k and my brand new HomePod. Set up is NOT EASY. It took multiple attempts to finally get it to work. It failed for me multiple times when I first bought it and it was replaced by Apple (after a long service call into WEMO). Once again, I slugged it out with the difficult setup. This time it worked for about a week and I felt good trusting it to control the lights in my (empty) vacation home. Now, while I'm away for 3 months, it stopped working - again. I can not contact it through the Home app and, by remote camera, I can see my light is not turning on. I will plan to throw it in the garbage upon my return and I will try a competitors device. I thought home automation was intended to make my life easier! BTW, all my other devices (level lock and Simplisafe) work fine and are easily controlled by my Apple Home app.
I have 10 of these WSP 100 outlets. I have a reasonably large thread network, with multiple edge routers (2 x Apple TV, 4 x HomePod mini, and 6 x Eero (thread capable)) and I have basically stopped using the WSP100s as they continually go "No Response" on the thread network. I have been working with Belkin Tech support for several weeks to try to fix the issues, and despite many attempts by Belkin, they are unable to resolve the issue. I began replacing the WSP100s with Eve plugs and have zero issues with the Eve plugs, so I am confident that the issue lies with the Wemo plugs and not my network. I have 7 WSP100 plugs that I am using to gather info for the Belkin. techs as they work to try to fix my issues, of those 7, I get an average of 2 of them offline every morning when I wake up. When they are offline, even pressing the manual switch on the side of the plug does not work. They have to be power cycled to bring them back to life. I really did try to like these plugs - they are small and reasonably priced, but I am about to throw them all in the trash can and continue my replacement of them with Eve.
