WeMo - WiFi Smart Plug 3-Pack - White

I have 10 Wemo products in my home so I'm fairly experienced with all their quirks. I bought two of these plugs to add to my configuration. And while setup works fine if you are right on top of the access point, their WiFi connectivity is *horrible* if you're not. I have two high-quality access points (Ubiquity Alien) in my setup. I have a separate 2.4Ghz SSID for my IoT stuff; everything works great, including other Wemo devices, but not here. Within 10 feet they worked great, 20 feet it was marginal, 30 feet forget it.

Bear in mind that we now own several Wemo smart switches in our home and this Smart Plug is the latest to join our collection Wemo products. Needless to say we would not be investing further in Wemo if we didn't find the product extremely useful and easy to manage and use. These new or latest Smart Plug are the smallest of all the plugs we own, and so we're excited to be able to now use them in places where we can leverage the 2nd outlet in a switch plate. Previous units were bigger and would not allow both outlets to be used, so these are game changers for us. Simple to use and simplier to setup. Just plug them in, watch for them to appear in your phone's network, select the Wemo device in your network and switch to the Wemo app to complete the setup. If it's not your first Wemo device, then the new devices will get your Network information from the Wemo app. We use them to control everything that doesn't use a soft switch to control (e.g. our coffee maker), otherwise very practical on Lamps of all sorts, etc. Good luck with yours, we love ours.

I have many!! Luv em! These small plugs go offline often and don't come back online!! I try factory reset a lot! Very few problems with with light switches and the larger outlets!!! Was going to buy 3 more if these smaller ones, but will wait to see if the new ones I just got get resolved!! Otherwise luv Wemo!

Great if all you want to do is turn things on and off with your phone. You can also make rules for it to follow to turn things on and off at certain times, but it'll just ignore them. The app will tell you a rule is currently active, but the plug doesn't care. It'll just stay in whatever state you left it in. I've been through two firmware "updates" followed by two complete factory resets, none of which accomplished anything.

The software is inconsistent and it will not work with the programed rule (Turn on at a time and turn off an another. There are dozens of people all over the internet with the same issue, the setup is not intuitive and rarely works correctly. After fighting to configure the device it works until a firmware upgrade and then you have to go into troubleshooting mode. Support never response to any request so frankly you are on your own to make it work.
