My granddaughter had discribed this bike to me one afternoon, She was getting ready to turn 5 years, and had seen this bike some place. She used toys in our play yard to discribe this bike to me, I came on line and pulled it up, and this was the bike she was talking about. I had NEVER seen anything like it before, So needless to say this is what I got her for her 5th birthday. She loved it.. We go bike riding atleast 3 times a week now. She has a regular kids bike with training wheels, but perfers to ride with me on this bike. Best invention ever for a child learning to ride a bike. She has great balance now, and will soon be riding her own bike alone, Although I have a feeling she will still want to ride with me on this bike.. Great investment on our part.

We bought this for our 4 year old grandson who had just outgrown his bike carrier but wasn't quite big enough to keep up on rides on his own bike. He loves it! He feels like a big kid riding behind his Papa. The arm is a little tight at first but we are going to try a little oil and it should work fine. It was a hit in the neighborhood too. Our neighbors' daughter liked it so much, they bought one themselves.

This is for my 3 1/2 year-old son. He's about 43" tall and weighs about 45 pounds. (He's the size of an average 5 year-old). Assembly took me about an hour (including removing the already attached baby seat and telling my son to back away and wait until I was finished every 10 minutes). My son had absolutely no fear. Jumped right on and we went on a great bike ride this evening. A few thoughts: 1. It doesn't have an attached kickstand so it makes the entire thing a little unstable when propped up with only the adult bike kickstand. 2. My son is just tall enough to reach the pedals with the seat all the way down. 3. I can't see my son when I am riding so I am constantly asking him if he has both hands on the handle bars. I am going to get a rear-view/side-view mirror so I can keep an eye on him for rides we go on without Carl or Blake. 4. The ride for him is shockingly smooth but I get a serious core workout every time he moves his body. It's not bad though I recommend practicing! 5. Once assembled, it's super easy to detach from the adult bike for storage and reattach for use. This is by far the best purchase of the year.

Ok I would like to say this is a very cool product and my 3 1/2 year old little girl loves it. She is 39 inches and can't reach the pedals when they are all the way down (6 o’clock and 12 o’clock) but she can with pedal blocks, or if they are level (3 o’clock and 9 o’clock) she will just sit and hold on for the ride. There are a couple of things you should know. If you don't know how to work on bikes you might have some problems but if you do you should be good. Some reviews talk about the back wheel locking up this happened to me within the first mile. Here is what I did to fix this problem. Take off the back wheel and remove the axel from the wheels hub you will see the BB's in there these should have a lot of grease but they don't from the factory. Load them up and you will no longer have this problem. You can do the same for the crank set/bottom bracket this will make the pedals turn over easier for your child. As for it leaning well that would be a install problem if you do it right there won't be a leaning problem. One reviewer said it would fall over when turning. You would have to get off the bike and turn it as sharp as you could for this to happen. It is not possible when riding I have tried to make it happen without my child on it of course and could not get it to happen. All in all if you can grease the parts I talked about this is a really good bike. It is very easy to balance and rolls really well, much much easier than a cart. The way I see it is you are paying less than an Adams brand so for the money you save a little greasing of parts is well worth it.

Works nicely, but rear axle makes loud noise

Overall design is good. Ordered on 7 May, received on 18 May 09: 11 days delivery time. "Universal Joint" that connects Copilot to lead bicycle is fairly robust, however, the disconnect is sticky & difficult to remove; I gave up. It would be easier to simply remove the seat post and seat from the lead bike and buy another seat post and seat for Copilot-less operation. Not that big of a deal. Instructions are unnecessary. Add some chain lubrication (wax type for motorcycle use) to all moving parts & chain. I suspect that the loud axle noise is a design or factory assembly problem; it shouldn't be a show-stopper; perhaps lots of grease or simply removing the rear axle and lubricating it fully will do the job of getting rid of the LOUD click. Another reviewer mentioned this problem, and it's not just a "click", it's a LOUD click. It sounds as if a bearing is not properly seated in the bearing race (inside the wheel). Poor assembly at the factory if so. But not a major problem even if it has to be replaced. This is a cost-effective purchase, and if you're lucky enough not to experience this clicking problem with the rear axle, you've got a fantastic product. Nevertheless, my 5 year old son was thrilled with the long ride we went on on day one, the higher relative speeds possible with him in trail,, his ability to help me pedal, and the sheer joy of hearing comments like, "this is the most fun I've ever had." Unquote. So if I have to replace the rear axle bearings at my own cost, it will be worth it. Notwithstanding the probable rear axle problem, and even with it, I would recommend purchasing this "back bike." My 5 year old loves it. Me too.

Extremely happy with this purchase. My friend bought a higher end one at 2 1/2 times the price I purchased at Walmart- I don't see the difference. I've used this about 3 times now with my 6 year old daughter and its performing better than expected. Just one minor tip- I would recommend to glue thin rubber sheet (material from an old bike tire inner tube) to the shaft clamp because the bike seat shaft doesn't have ridges on them and so the clamp becomes off center occassionally. After I have done this, it became very stable.

Set up was easy. As with other reviews the joint is very still and needs some working in and loosing for better operation. One day while riding I noticed that i was being held back like the Wee Rider had brakes and there was a loud clicking that wasn't just the coasting gear. When I got home I noticed that the back cog had become unscrewed which was causing the clicking and breaking, after tightening it down again it works fine. A little annoying but I got what I paid for and am happy that I didn't have to spend $200+ on something similar.

Today is the first day that I rode this bike with my 4 year old daughter and we loved it. She is so excited to be on a big girls bike and ride. It took a little practice maneuvering the turns but after a few corners, I've got it. Just be sure to have allen wrenches of different sizes on hand. Perhaps purchasing the bike tools would be best.

Well, this is the least expensive product of this type that I have found, and this becomes obvious when installing onto your adult bike. The swivel was causing problems, so my husband had to take it on and off until it actually swiveled and moved with my bike. The top of the screws flattened after using the screwdriver on them twice. Other than those negative remarks, the co-pilot is good for the price paid. If this was something that I would use for more than one child (pass it down) then I would purchase a better and more expensive one. but for one child to use for a year or so, it does the job.
