Bought this for my long term food supply. Wanted to try it first. Also bought Augason Farms Morning Moo. Mixed up both products ..chilled over night.. and had my husband (who is a milk drinker) do the taste test. It was a toss up.. but in the end he chose the Country Fresh because it had a slightly milkier taste. But he said he would be happy with either product. Sooo... have already ordered more Country Fresh from Walmart (best price) to add to my long term supply.!! Husband has been drinking this for a few days now, and suggested we use this instead of buying fresh milk. I guess it's our NEW milk!!
I made up a glass of Augason Farms (AF) dry milk and the grocery store dry milk (GS). Right off the smell of the GS was awful and the AF was neutral. Put them in the fridge for several hours and taste tested. The AF was more like fresh milk although it had a hint of the dry milk taste. I could drink a glass of the AF while I would never drink the GS by itself.
I mixed this up using the mixer pitcher and let it sit overnight-had my husband try it and he said if he didn't know it was powdered he would not have known. Tried on my adult daughter-told her "taste this" and she said, "yeah, it's milk?" Tastes great! Great addition to the food storage pantry or just everyday.
Whole milk has always upset my stomach and given me cramps. I purchased this milk just out ot curiosity and not only did I use it to make pancakes which turned out to be fluffy and delicious, but also drank some of it and had no problems. My daughter also liked it. One never knows unless one tries. The great part about it is that it can be kept without refrigeration in the pantry until ready to use and always have milk on hand.
I use it mostly for baking , as for drinking I use the morning mooo from the same company . I don't use fresh milk as I have problem with it so this is only Nonfat Dry Milk I mostly use in my kitchen and I love it knowing that each time I use it it is fresh and pure milk !
I like the long storage time so when we have a disaster I will have milk to use. The milk is very good and can be used in my daily kitchen making rotation a pleasure. I like being able to get it on the internet and for free shipping to my home. I live 65 miles from Walmart.
This is the best powdered milk I have ever used.. I mixed according to the directions and it was the closest thing to fresh milk I have experienced.. I am retired Army and I have experienced all kinds of milk products: UHT milk; canned milk from France; evaporated milk; powdered milk; milk produced by the USN from de-salinated sea water off the coast of RVN. All these had a metallic or "grassy" after taste. I could detect no after taste in the Augason Farms brand.
This was bought for my long term storage project. I have not found a better price, even the big box stores can't beat it. I have not tried this brand personally but relied on prepper website blogs. It was consistently rated high for mixing and flavor. Will add more to my stock over time!
Walmart has a great price on Augason Farms dry milk compared to other on-line sites. The flavor of the milk is much better than the dried milk you buy in the grocery stores. We bought several cans for our long-term food storage. A great product at a great price!
I've had several brands of powdered milk over the years and on a taste basis, this is easily as good or better than all I've had and that includes Carnation. No-one should expect these powders to mix fully by simply using a spoon or shaker. I use a portable hand mixer and there are no clumps what-so-ever when I finish a ten second mix. The reason for the hand mixer is because I also drink protein shakes and when mixing any powder I don't want clumps to spoil the entire drink. There's nothing worse than drinking milk or a protein shake and getting a clump of unmixed powder. I always chill the milk before drinking, unless I'm going to have a 'honey' milk. I mix the milk, heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes and then add a tablespoon of all natural honey. Add some cinnamon to top it off and you're ready to go!! Highly Recommended!!
