I bought previously Sunpentown 46 pint, and I can't use it in my bedroom because of noise. Soleus - really!! quiet. Even though Soleus 40 pint is not so powerfull as Sunpentown 46 pint but it is really does the job. For 360 watts that this Soleus consumes, it works perfect! Bad thing with dehumidifiers of this type (compressor) is - they produce little bit heat, but I use A/C together with it, For people , who looking for quiet dehumidifier to use in bedroom - I recommend this!
I purchased this dehumidifier for myself. I liked it so much I thought my parents could benefit from it, so I gave them this one and was going to order me another one. But instead of getting this 40 pint Soleus I decided to get the Soleus Energy Star 45-Pint Dehumidifier, DP1-45-03. Both of these work great, but the 40 pint is so much quieter and doesn't put out near the heat that the 45 pint does. My parents didn't need a dehumidifier after all, so I am using the one I like the best, which is the 40 pint and am using the 45 in the basement.
Works very well, we are using in the basement ,run very quietly. Basement air is much better, dampness is gone.
We bought this unit 5 years ago. It was very quiet and we were very satisfied with it. It did a great job. When we first bought it, we had to empty it twice a day, but as it drew the humidity factor down over the ensuing weeks, we only had to empty it every other day. We now have a problem where it got very hot and shut off. When hubby started it up after a few days, it started running but it sounds like the fan is hitting something. It's a "clunking" noise. So, I tried to email customer service listed on their website. It came back as a mailer daemon, so I called and left a message. I doubt I will receive a call back and doubt that it can be fixed. We can't do without a dehumidifier and so bought a Haier but are NOT happy with it. It's loud and doesn't seem to do the job and we will be returning it and buying another Soleus. i gave this product 4 stars because of the lousy customer service. Otherwise, this unit was very quiet, easy to set up and, all in all, I feel the 5 years we had it was well worth the money.
Unit is very quiet, as advertised, but compressor failed after about 300 hours of actual use, over less than 3 years. An email to Soleus brought the following response: Dear Customer, > >Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can tell you that will fix this unit. The only thing you can do is take it to a certified AC technician. It sounds like the compressor has given out. It is appalling to me that a unit like this should fail so quickly, and that Soleus takes no responsibility for helping get it fixed.
WARNING! The compressor failed in my Soleus CFM-40 when only two years old (and approximately 6 months of actual use)! Find another brand.
