It fits perfect....good looking..strong ...does the job!!!
I bought 3 of these gates and some of the extensions. I bought an extension to fit this area. Love the fact that these gates are pressure mounted.
After recently purchasing an Evenflow gate and having to return it because it did not meet the width requirements of witch I needed, I searched for a gate for weeks and finally settled on the Dream Baby Hallway gate. I was hesitant on purchasing this product due to its hefty price tag. I had no choice though since the space I needed it for was 53''. And to find a gate to fit such a space was a chore. I received it, put it up and its magnificant. I use it to keep my dog out of my dining room, and it beautifully goes with the decor. I'm so glad I purchased it. This gate is well worth the price.
My first gate purchased was another brand and the door only opened one way. That got old quickly. I searched for a door that opened in both directions and I am happy with my finding.
This gate fit perfectly in our larger-than-normal stairway and I love that it automatically closes so I dont have to worry about our little guy taking a tumble. Was very easy to install.
I bought this gate to keep my kitten from going down stairs and out my front door, and it has been great. I will say there is a down side in that I have gated myself in and out as well. The door makes things easy but it is more narrow than I expected. I was worried my 5 month old kitten would slip through the bars but they are only about 2 inches apart -so it works well for pets too!
I love the self closing feature. Works well at the top of our stairs. Easy to open for adults, but not the toddler
The total width is wide, but the opening that you walk through is narrow. It's sturdy enough to keep our 100 lb. dog on one side and our 20 lb. baby on the other.
I love the wrought iron. However, there are warning stickers for use all along the bottom of the gate on both sides, probably for a total of 3 feet-worth, and they do not come off. They look really tacky and let's be serious -- once you read them, you won't read them ever again so they should come off. I used GooGone and still had to scrape each tiny piece with my fingernail for an hour to get it all off. Also, the gate is not easy to open -- even for adults. You have to pull the toggle back AND lift the gate up at the same time.
I installed this gate to stop my three small dogs from trying to get outside my house when I answer the front door doorbell. They have a habit of jumping onto the gate, which nocks the gate loose from the 4 side restraining cups. The cups should be made of metal and much deeper to hold the side adjustment screws when side pressure is put on the gate. I ended up installing 1 1/2 inch wooden blocks; 2 for each adjustment screw, which supports the adjustment screws from coming loose from the retaining cups. Also I have wooden paneling and a wooden banister that I was able to secure the retaining cups and the wooden blocks to. I do not know how the side adjustment cups would be safely secured when wall board is the construction material.
