I just completed the assembly of my new Bush Somerset file cabinet. Took me about 7 hours to assemble over several days. But I really like the final result. The product is quite substantial. In fact, I had to open the box and carry it into my home piece by piece since it is so heavy. The top surface is a nice 1" thick and looks more expensive than it is. I've never assembled anything like this before, so it took me a while to get familiar with the instruction manual since it was mostly by diagram with very little written instructions. I even made a mistake on the very first page and glued wooden dowels into the wrong holes. I had to wrench them out once I discovered my error and ended up breaking off three of the dowels. But I called the 800 number in the instruction booklet and I had replacement dowels in my mailbox 3 days later. And after drilling out the glued-in stubs, I was ready to proceed. So, moral of the story is to study the diagrams carefully to be sure you're assembling the pieces correctly, especially the pieces you glue! Once I got past that first hurdle, it went pretty smoothly. Just a lot of screws to screw in by hand (I recommend work gloves if you have them!). And I discovered a bit late that my bigger Phillips head screw driver was a better fit. After everything was assembled, I had a bit of trouble getting the bottom drawer into the cabinet at first. It was hitting something and wouldn't go in all the way. So I pulled it back out and started over and got it to go in with a strong shove. (Be careful, the glides are greased so be sure you work on a drop cloth to avoid getting the grease on your carpeting.) The finished piece looks beautiful and is a great addition to my home office. I highly recommend this product.

Very nice file cabinet and fits my office perfectly. Matches other light wood futon and desk I already owned. Love love love the fact that Wal-mart assembled this furniture for FREE!!!
A bit pricy but worth it to me. I have had the Bush Furniture Somerset L-shaped desk and hutch (cherry finish) for 10 years and was happy to find there was a matching file cabinet. Having been forced to work from home, due to this unfortunate pandemic, I needed to spruce up my home office for virtual web meetings. Its not as sturdy as a professional metal HON cabinet but it is very spacious and holds all the files I need. Overall, I was pretty easy to assemble and, so far, am happy with it.
Good sturdy cabinet. Just don't open both drawers at the same times if they're full!
This cabinet is very sturdy and looks nice. We purchased it because we did not like the "office dungeon" look of the metal ones. It was quite a challenge for my husband when he put it together, because he had to do it from scratch, which turned out to be very time consuming. The positioning of some screws was wrong, which caused the drawers not to fit in. All in all we recommend it, but be prepared to spend several hours for assembly!
Overall, it is a very good file cabinet for the cost. Looks very nice. Took quite awhile to put together. Top drawer does not like to stay shut sometimes.

After putting together a number of Ikea furniture pieces, I assembled this 2 drawer file. Frankly, there was no comparison; the fit and quality of the components in the Bush product was far inferior. I would not buy anything further from this manufacturer. When the cabinet was assembled using the nominal hole locations, the two drawers overlapped by more than 3/8" preventing the drawers from closing. Using all the adjustment available, the drawers till hit. Not acceptable.
