I bought this because I have always wanted to try Hoppin' John. The flavor is amazing and the price is just right. I really hope Walmart continues to carry this because I was at one location and there wasn't even a spot on the shelf for it, and the Walmart closest to me had them on clearance for .75 cents a can so I bought all of them. Please don't stop selling this product!
My favorite bean is a black eyed pea and man oh man oh woman oh woman, these are delicious! I can make a meal out of them. I eat the entire can (well not the can but the contents). A little fried cornbread on the side and it's soooo very good.
These have tomatoes, peppers and onions added to blackeye peas. Really good. I can eat these right out of the can. Delicious.
It works great for adding to my homemade soup! Adds ZIP!
Absolutely love this product. Other Margaret Holmes goods are also tasty. But this is my favorite. Had been chasing all over town trying to find it again, and finding it at Walmart (a place I rarely shop) has me even using the online ordering app to get them. Thank you!
When we make a bean dip, we always place in a can of the blackeye peas in the dip. It gives our bean dip an awesome flavor.
Tasty combo. Blackened peas, tomato, onion, and jalapeño make a meal on its own. Either along or with additional items, the beans are a good choice. Two to three minutes in the microwave and it is time to eat.
Recently tried Hoppin John with blackeye peas. It was really good. It had just a little bit of spicy taste to it. Very good change to plain blackeye peas. I recommend it. I would also like to say thank you to Walmart pickup service. This is a valuable service to people who have disabled family that can't walk all over the store. Thank you for such a great service.
We just heat and eat with cornbread. Pretty darn good for canned peas. I do wish there was a low sodium version but oh well. keeps me from having to cook it myself.
I have not tried them yet and hesitate to do so since as suggested use us “add them to GUMBO”. Good grief, you should be embarrassed. Nit knowledgeable at all. Who even wrote that!!!!!
