I got this for free as a Walmart Spark Reviewer, and although I have used this in the past, I am the kind of cook who always has to add something to everything I make. Because I always add other ingredients to this McCormick Original Taco Seasoning Mix, this time I decided, that to really evaluate it I would just make it as directed on the package - using one pound ground beef, the seasoning mix, and three quarters of a cup of water, and nothing else. It thickened up nicely and held the ground beef together so compiling the shells, veggies, and toppings was easy. It had good taste - not too spicy but also not too boring. I like this product and I like making tacos at home - I am able to make a taco that in my opinion is a thousand times better than going to that taco place that rings a bell - if you know what I mean...I would recommend this product.
McCormick Original Taco Seasoning Mix is a staple item in my cupboard. It is my favorite brand that I have used for years. It has a great taste with NO MSG, no artificial flavors. It is quick and easy to use. All you need is 1 pkg of this seasoning mix, 1lb ground beef, ground chuck, or ground turkey, 3/4 cup water and taco shells or flour tortillas. Brown meat in a large skillet and drain fat. Stir in the package of mix and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes stirring occasionally. Then serve on taco shells, tortilla chips or flour tortillas with whatever fixin's you love. This mix is perfect for Taco Salad. I also make Seven Layer Taco Dip using this for my spice mix and add shredded chicken or shredded beef. There is a good basic recipe for Seven Layer Fiesta Dip on the back of the package that is good, quick, and simple so you might want to try that for parties or any type of get-together. I always use McCormick Taco seasoning because it just tastes great. We have taco family night every Friday and my family can tell if I don't use McCormick. It has just the right seasonings and is so easy to make. All you have to do is brown 1 lb of hamburger, then mix in the seasoning packet with 3/4 to 1 cup of water and within minutes you have a great Taco sauce. I also use it for Taco salad where you mix one packet with 8 oz of Sour cream, then top with chopped tomatoes, cheese, olives and lettuce. Yum! I do not hesitate to recommend this seasoning packet and always keep some in my pantry. Price is great too!
This is the best, well seasoned packet to enhance your tacos. Just brown up a pound of hamburger, drain the grease, add a little water and this ready to go packet. Now you have taco meat for your shells and are ready to dress them up to your desire and enjoy. It tastes almost like taco bell but a bit spicier. Very good.
My mother has been using this mix for years. I've tried many other options and have made tacos from scratch, I just don't bother anymore. This is just too easy and too accurate. When I want a taco this is the mix I crave. It takes no time to make, it costs less than a buck and it's always ready to go in my cabinet. I love it as a standard in ground beef but I've used it to make pulled port tacos, shredded chicken tacos, and ground turkey tacos. You just can't beat the classic, meets-all-my-expectations win of using McCormick. Also, I recommend making a double batch every time. It makes great left overs and taco salads. You can't go wrong with left over lunch for a couple days.
Our family loves tacos, so we have them just about every weekend. We like to try out different seasonings and this one is one of our favorites. It isn't to spicy, but has enough spice to enjoy. Our daughter loves tacos and it isn't to spicy for her. It is very easy to prepare and would be great for families of all sizes. IF we have leftovers, my daughter and I like to make taco salads or add it to cheese to make a spicy dip.
I received the McCormick Original Taco seasoning mix to review. All I can say is, it's easy and quick! Brown some ground meat (turkey, chicken, or beef), add the seasoning, add water as directed, stir, and cook! Put it in some flour tortillas or taco shells, add some salad greens/lettuce/tomatoes, and top with cheese or sour cream - dinner is served! I think this mix makes dinner really quick and easy – I can get this done in less than 15 minutes if I'm not adding hidden vegetables (chopped tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms) into my taco meat! I cook it all together and my kids can't tell! I don't like a lot of salt so I don't use the whole packet for 1 lb. of ground meat – I usually use ½ packet and reduce the amount of water in half also! Delicioso!
McCormick is a top name brand when it comes to any seasoning and its Taco Seasoning is no exception. I have the original, but it comes in mild, medium, hot and other varieties. Depending on the degree of spiciness your tongue prefers, you can find a variety that will work for your palette. I like that it is simple to prepare, and can be added to either beef or turkey successfully. After cooking the meat, it is just an additional five minutes which lessens the stress of making dinner. I got this package free through the Spark Review program but I know that it costs less than a dollar in the store. You can't ask for anything quicker, easier, or more affordable.
OK, IF YOU LIKE IT A LITTLE SPICY IN THE MEAT SAUCE, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU... IT WAS OK, I JUST PREFER LESS IN THE SAUCE AND ADD THE EXTRA SAUCE AS YOU LIKE IT.. STILL EASY TO MAKE AND SURE IS A LIGHT DINNER ON A HOT SUMMER NITE....ITS EASY TO MAKE AND EASY TO PUT TOGETHER...ITS QUICK WITH VEGGIES TO MAKE IT A HEALTHY MEAL..AT LEAST YOUR GETTING YOUR VEGGIES WITH YOUR MEAT ALL IN A SOFT OR HARD TACO SHELL. CLEAN UP IS EASY AND ONE PAN TO MAKE IT...SO TRY THIS ONCE AND YOU WILL BE A REGULAR CUSTOMER OF AN EASY MEAL PREPARATION AND CLEAN UP...THANK YOU
I was really excited to try this because of how I tend to enjoy McCormick products. I was very disappointed with it. The original was tasteless with the meat, and may have been slightly better with some seasoning. It wasn't runny like other taco sauces I have tried which is great when the taco shells break. The mix with the sauce and sour cream did have a very disgusting taste to it. The smell, which was not very good, lingered in the kitchen for a few days after making. I will not be purchasing the McCormick Original mix again, and would not recommend it to anyone. I would rather eat ground beef with no sauce in my tacos instead!
