Wonderful product

I am sorry the other reviewers had unfortunate experiences with this product, I have to disagree with thier opinions 100 percent,I have owned this product for quite some time and have found it to be wonderfully useful and completely accurate.Makes grilling a joy with no concerns for loosing meat to overcooking as well as allowing for the ability to do other things while the food is preparing.Personally I can't reccomend it highly enough!

Got this last summer and have used it many many times on the grill and for roasts/ turkey/ meatloaf etc in the oven. Worked great every time and love that I can set the meat type and how I want it. Then I head back to the computer to play till it beeps. Can keep an eye on it so I know how much time I have till it will beep as well. Great idea and have had not one complaint.

I've had one of these for about 2 years and have bought 5 other for gifts for family and friends. I've had 3 other brands of wireless remote themometers that cost a lot more and they have had problems with the probes. If you put heatshrink sleaving over the the probe just where the wire comes into the probe, they'll last forever. (my orignal probe died after 1 year, I contacted the company, they replaced it. Great customer service!) For the price, you can't beat it.

I absolutely love my meat thermometer. I use it about 3-4 times a month from April-September and I am going on my third season using it with no problems at all. I wouldn't cook without it. The finished product is always PERFECTLY cooked. I mostly use it for chicken but have also used it for steak.

Cheap & Works (for now)

First off, I'll agree with my fellow reviewer... this thing is CHEAPLY put together. It looks and feels like it should have come out of a happy meal. BUT, I'm willing to look past that for two reasons: 1) it works and 2) comparable units are 3x+ as much. I've only used this unit a handful of times so far, but it has yet to fail me. I've also checked it's readings with another thermometer, and I've used it to monitor both the ambient temperature inside a smoker and meat temperature. In conclusion, this thing is cheap, and it probably will eventually break. But when taking into account the cost to get a comparable unit, I would think it's satisfactory for occasional use.

piece of junk

When it works it works great. It is cheaply manufactured and feels very flimsy. I used it twice with no problems but on grill event #3 it failed outright, with the base and remote units failing to synchronize. There is no manufacturer logo or model number on the unit. Luckily the owners manual had contact information. Trying to contact JLR Gear for satisfaction. Save your $16.

don't buy this

It's cheap for a reason. I was very excited about the idea of the product, and loved using it... while it worked. It started breaking (by the cover of the antenna on the hand unit falling off) very shortly after I started using. After about a month of use, it stopped working altogether. I'd put the probe in a cold peice of meat, and the temp would read 300 degrees. The thermometer is supposed to be used for grilling, but the package even states your not supposed to leave the cord of the probe in temps of over about 350 (or so) degrees.

Steer Clear

Stay away from this piece of junk. I've used it twice before it stopped working. Notice it doesn't have a brand name. Battery contacts fall out and get lost, and the reciever won't read the the signal from the base unit.
