Great Lil therm!!

I bought this a while back and it has worked great. I use it in my smoker for fall off the bone ribs and brisket. Has not failed me yet. Probe still intact and working great!!. To be sure yours is reading correctly, dip the probe into some boiling water and it should shoot up to 212 degrees or so. I check my therms using this method before a big smoke. If its off a few degree no problem. BUT if its off like 15 or so Id get another one. I like the wireless ones too. Great for smoking!!

No guessing if the roast is done with this product

Did the Christmas ham, then the pork roast for New Years. No need to keep opening the oven. When the tone sounds the internal cooking temperature has been reached for perfect doneness you desire. Very accurate and easy to use. Can't wait for summer outdoor grilling!

I made a 3 bone standing rib roast, followed the instruction given by "How To Cook A Rib Roast", a cut of the roast was perfect. The nice part of this time and temperature unit, you can insert the probe, stick the roast and the probe into the oven. You close the oven door and the temperature probe with it's long probe sensor wire allows you set it up outside the oven. It allows you to check the temp and the time to insure you will get the correct amount of perfection you want. You could not get a better piece of meat in a specialized restaurant.

FAB ITEM FOR THE MONEY!

Got this for a gift swap this year. The price was $15 and under and had to be a unisex gift. The person who got it was THRILLED. You can use it in the grill or the oven, set the alarm to sound when your meat reaches your desired temp, it has a magnet so you can stash it on the fridge or grill, it has a belt clip so you can take it with you - lots of great features! For the money, you just can't go wrong -- can't wait to get one for myself!

Excellent product. Easy to use. Takes the guess work out of smoking meat. I use it with my electric smoker. Just fish the probe and wire down the vent on the top of the smoker and attach thermometer to the side. Magnets hold the thermometer perfectly in place. This is a great product for the money. If you do any type of slow cooking, do yourself a favor and get an accurate meat thermometer. This certainly makes things simple.

Excellet Timer!

We received this and used it to gauge our Thanksgiving Turkey's progress. We took it out at 158 degrees and let it sit on the counter to continue to 165. The turkey came out perfectly tender and juicy. I now use this for all oven meats and love it!

A Good Value

I had purchased a more expensive remote thermometer that didn't work right out of the box. The Taylor worked well for me right away. The probe has what looks like a rubber coating and I was fearful it would melt in the oven - but it did not. It kept good track of the temperature of my roast and the final product was perfect. The instruction booklet is pretty small and a little difficult to read - luckily the product is not complicated. I also found out that if the probe stops working in the first year they will replace it free of charge.

Dead-on Accuracy!

I own traditional candy/deep fry thermometers and meat thermometers, but wanted something a little more functional and with a better readout especially when dealing with sauces and such which tend to fog up the glass on candy thermometers. Upon purchasing this item, I tested it against my candy thermometer first, and it gave a perfect reading. I have also tested it on bread, and it gave accurate results. It is more sensitive to measuring the temperature of liquids, seeming to catch every fluctuation in temperature while stirring, but this can actually prove beneficial if doing something such as tempering chocolate. Great buy!

Save your meat

This works pretty well. Just insert the probe in the meat, run the wire out through the door and shut the door. Be careful not to kink the wire or you are done and will need to replace probe and wire. It does shut off to save the battery, just need to hit the on button. Everything is saved so you don't need to reset anything. It says it works from 32-212 F. I have not tested that but this is for meat and that range is from about 40 from the fridge to about 180 for poultry done so the range is all you would need to check meat doneness. The directions do state the probe wire is good to 392 F so no worry about having it in the oven since you wouldn't cook meat that high anyway. There are probably better thermometers out there but for just using it for meat doneness this is all you should need. I use this in my smoker. If you want to check your freezer get a freezer thermometer. same for candy. This works good for me and my uses, I would recommend it to anyone who wants a meat thermometer.
