My central air does not cool upstairs. This unit keeps three bedrooms cool at night for sleeping. The AC was easy to set up. I only had to empty the water once all summer and it's not dificult to do. I am very happy with this product.
This unit cools more area than was promised. Works really great. Was very easy to set up and get running. I like it so much, I have ordered a second one to cool the rest of my house.
The unit works very well on both heating and cooling. It is very quiet. Noise was a big concern for me and I am very pleased. Remote Control is very convenient to use.
I really like this machine. It cools my room with no problem. I have not used the heater yet. The only problem with this machine is the drain plug is tooo low.
Good product ... works well ... easy to set up and operate.
Recieved it as promised,but it had a broken caster. so I went to the local hardware and got a new set,no big deal.works great. Only thing I don't like is the rattel it makes when it shuts down.
The noise output was unbearable on the first day. It wasn't rattling anything since it was on a rug. The noise was from the compressor. I've heard many window units at work and this was much louder than any window unit I've heard before. I returned it.
So far, I am very disappointe in this product. It does not cool effectively until after the sun goes down. It is much noisier than expected and the fact that it has to be vented through a window or a wall limits the portability of this project.
You might want to think twice before getting one of these Portable AC/heat units. Do not place this unit in a room with carpet, unless you don't mind it leaking all over the place and ruining the carpet. Do not run this unit in a high humidity location, unless you don't mind draining it every 4 to 6 hours. Do not setup the unit for continuous drainage while operating it in AC mode, unless you don't mind it increasing your power bill more than what it claims it will. Do not try to cool a room larger than 300 square feet with this unit, because it's actually an 8,000 btu (cool) / 10,000 btu (heat) unit and it's over-rated at 12,000 btu for both. And after you consider the radiating heat coming from the exhaust hose you will soon realize you need to insulate it with reflective foil insulation or R19 fiberglass, which makes it look even more ridiculous. You will also have to tape down the exhaust hose adapter to the unit to prevent the family dog from bumping it off the back of the unit, thus sending all the heat back into the room and raising the humidity level. A plastic window kit came with my unit, it was a bit thin, so yep you better insulate that too. You also have to consider floor space since you do have to position the unit between 22 to 39 inches away from the wall to get better air flow through the exhaust hose or else it will choke. Which reminds me... Do not install this unit for a window with a high profile sill. Do not try to use the Auto mode function on the unit, because you will be sitting there sweating up a storm. Do not pay any attention to the digital thermostat, since it only measures the ambient temperature including the heat radiating from the warm plastic on the unit. If you still want to purchase one of these units, then I would suggest using it in a barn or a work shop where it doesn't matter if it malfunctions. Of course if you consider the price of the unit, you would still be better off getting a regular window unit. This review is not based on 1 unit. I actually bought 2 units at the same time thinking I would get a good EER advantage. I learned differently. They are worse than a window unit. A 10,000 btu Energy Star window unit will run circles around this thing and use less energy! The good news is I was able to return both units and get a refund at our local Wal-Mart store without any problems.
The first one I ordered came broken (smashed). The second one I ordered I had delivered to the store for pick up so it was not damaged. But when used - the cooling was very very minimal. I would not recommend this product at all. I was very disappointed. On the other hand, I had no trouble returning it at Walmart which is why I shopped through them in the first place. Very easy return.
