Save your money and time..buy a real AC. Bought this over 2 years ago, it bearly functions. It leakes like crazy, damaged my wood floor-leaks gallons and gets hot, makes the room hotter. My son uses it in the winter as a fan when the raidiator gets hot, and as a side table for his bedside lamp. Otherwise functionless.

I bought a 12,000 BTU from costco which came broken so I don't really have something excellent to compare. It's able to bring the temp from 85 to 79 (south florida). I will probably need another unit for the adjacent room to lower the temperature even more. The only cons is it's a bit noisy to sleep next to.

I ordered this product because i don't have central air and it was starting to get into the hot season. It came in earlier than expected in about a week. I was surprised at the size of the exhaust pipe, it is about 5 in. This really limits where you can put the unit so it is not as portable as one might think. The window adapter did not work for my windows because they swing out. This is why i opted for the portable unit instead of the much cheaper window unit. There is no optional window adapter available for my type of window and no place to order additional window vents if i want to have it set up in multiple rooms (i have it in the living room in the day and take it in the bedroom in the evening). Worst of all it only worked for a day before the remote stopped working and there is no manual attached controls so if the remote is lost or malfunctioning (as in my case) then the unit is worthless. I called haier's customer service and told them about the issue and they insisted that i send a proof of purchase through the mail before they sent me a new remote... Not sure if they have heard of the internet or scanners but i have both. I suggested that i send it this way and they were very rude and again insisted that i send it through the mail and that it would take at least a week before i recieved the new remote. It is one of the hottest weeks of the year and i am sitting here staring at the $300 box that could be keeping me cool and feeling as though i have wasted my money. It will turn on and off with out the remote but i cannot adjust the thermostat or fan speed and it is stuck on high fan and a high temp. This is the most expesive, loudest fan i have ever bought. I advise two things... First DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER HAIER PRODUCT and make sure the unit you do buy has controls on the unit if it comes with a remote.

We bought this for a vacation rental for the summer. The unit is very large (the size of an ottoman but taller) and quite loud- definitely not for a bedroom one sleeps in. The extension that must be attached to allow ventilation to the outside is very short so there is not a lot of options as far as where to put the machine. The dehumidifier and fan options are quite nice and I run the dehumidifier regularly which keeps things cool in and of itself. If you want to run the AC at 73F degrees or lower I wouldn't recommend this product, it seems happy to keep things around 75F degrees, which I am fine with.

I bought this portable AC unit to cool a very small bedroom. It was easy enough to install and I really liked the concept of the exhaust hose through the window instead of a window air conditioner with it's bulk and weight in my new replacement windows. Plus, with this type of AC, it is very easy to remove the hose and open the window on cooler days for fresh airflow. This unit blows plenty of cool air into the room. The problem is that the exhaust hose generates enough heat to offset any cooling coming from the front of the unit. In fact, after running this portable AC unit for about six hours, the temperature in the room actually increased by 2 degrees! This unit was a huge dissapointment. The room I was trying to cool is slightly under 100 sq feet and this unit just does not cool anything. The only positive thing I can say is that using Walmart Site to Store delivery and the ultimate return of the unit for a refund went smooth as silk. Thank you Walmart for being a great company to deal with. As far as this portable AC unit goes, stay away (unless your looking to heat a room rather than cool it down).
