WD - My Cloud Expert EX2 Ultra 2-Bay 8TB External Network Attached Storage (NAS) - Charcoal

Unable to use. Could not connect to my network. I am attempting to get a refund and that is difficult to do since my account has not been updated to delivered it wouldn't allow me to request a refund. Don't know how long I'll have to wait on IT to fix that.

Our new MyCloud EX2 Ultra backs up 2 Apple computers via Time Machine & LAN, 1 a recent iMac, the other a late 2013 MacBook Pro. We needed and received WD phone support in setting it up and again when it stopped backing up the MacBook Pro. Support was v good. All backups working as planned. We are pleased.

I bought this to replace a WD Cloud Mirror, which is not supported anymore. The disappointment was that some of the apps available for the WD Cloud Mirror (OS 3) are not available for Cloud EX2 (OS5). The app I needed is Git , I am using currently the WD Cloud Mirror as a Git repository. I returned the Cloud EX2 after using it for about 2 hours.

I purchased this unit to replace a WD My Cloud unit that was no longer supported. I was using it as storage for all of my church's data and backups for 3 computers. The EX2 Ultra unit was easy to setup with the passwords and shares on the old unit. Transferring the data was relatively easy (but because of the number and size of the files, it took a while). The unit came configured with RAID1 which is what I wanted, giving us an automatic back for all of our data. Since I'm using the EX2 Ultra as a "server", it's perfect in that role. Transfer of data is quick and it's actually easier than using the original My Cloud unit. This unit was worth the money and will provide us with storage for many years to come.

Easy to setup but missing an important step/info. Directions NEED to let buyers know that the default is such that only 1/2 the disk space will be visible. Yo then need to better explain the various setups on how the Ultra may be utilized. Product gets 5 stars, information not obvious 3 stars = 4 stars.
