These compostable paper plates combine the best attributes of regular paper plates and styrofoam plates, so they can be used for any occasion. They are microwavable, so you can reheat leftovers on them, which is the main use at my house. They are super-strong and won’t break under a heavy load, so you can use them at parties. I was surprised they are so strong, because they aren’t very thick. I loaded one up with bottles of soda to test it and it flexed a little, but not enough to drop them carrying them one-handed. They are compostable, so they won’t be clogging up a landfill 50 years from now. I’ve even used one as a quick cutting board! With these features, I highly recommend these as a great, all-around plate.
I tried this product and received a full rebate in exchange for my honest opinion. Great value Compostable plates made from natural plant fibers are a sturdy, dependable disposable plate. They are a stiff paper type plate that can hold some weight. There doesn't seem to be any smell associated with the plates. I would recommend use of these plates with a small reservation, very wet items may leak through the finish on the plate.
These plates are fantastic! They are very sturdy and hold a good amount of food. Since they are not made of flimsy paper and don't tear up when you cut into your food, I think they might be my go-to paper plate. They are a nice weight and very solid for a paper plate. And the fact that they are exclusive to Walmart lets you know, you are getting a good value for your money. Yes, I would recommend this plate.
These paper compostable plates made with plant fibers are pretty sturdy. They are small at 8.5" in diameter, but great for portion control especially if you are watching your portions. I noticed the plate is pretty strong too - when I placed wet foods on it, it held well and didn't leak. It absorbs liquids and oils. I also like the fact that they are free of PFAS. The plates are microwaveable. They come 20 in a pack. I would definitely purchase these again.
This package of 20 attractive compostable plates meets the needs of those who enjoy picnics and al fresco dining without adding to plastic litter. Ordinary paper plates, while they answer for the plastic reduction issue, simply do not hold up to liquids from watermelon, cole slaw, baked beans, or syrupy meal items. This plate, on the other hand, is both attractive and durable. This is an imported product. When used in a meal setting, it sits right among other meal items (see photograph) without looking paper-y or disposable. As far as the disposable issue goes, one should know that these plates cannot summarily be contributed to curbside recyclable bins. The compostable feature is specifically for commercial-grade operations. One ought to check for such resources ahead of time if this is a specific preference; I discard my plates in the biodegradable trash bin. The surface of the plate is smooth; it can withstand not only liquids but also holds up against knife blades and fork indentations. Note that these plates are not bright white but rather a buff shade. I find the color appealing, allowing these 8.5-inch plates to fit well in the overall table setting. Do not limit your use to outdoor picnics! I recently used some of these when the water supply was turned off.
The plates are not large but at a picnic or a party where food servings are not large these plates would serve their purpose well. They're generally sturdy and are not too thin. I put beef with lots of sauce on my plate and even though the plate became a bit moist and soft in the bottom, the sauce never leaked through. I would recommend these plates.
I was concerned regarding what to use with these. I was afraid anything too watery would cause the papery-ness would cause fibers to come off of it and stick to my food. I should not have been worried. I used these for strawberries I had just cut and washed. There were no issues. In fact, they were a benefit, because the water was absorbed instead of pooling like happens with regular dishwater. But the water did not soak through. If you look at the attached photo, you can only see the strawberry staining from the front because I held it up to the light. I would highly recommend them. I think I’ll try watermelon next!
Not much to complain about with these plates! They're sturdy, a fairly generous size (anything bigger and the bottom would necessarily get weaker), and do a great job! While I've used these with mostly dry foods, given the strength of the bottom of the plate, they feel like they'd hold up well with moist/wet foods as well - baked beans, BBQ with too much sauce, etc. Overall, very good paper plates. Recommended.
I recently used these plates for strawberry shortcake and they performed well. They were sturdy enough for the weight of the berries, cake and whipping and the juice did not soak through, but my preference would be a coated plate for juicy items. These plates seem to absorb the liquid or grease. I like the fact that they are a made from natural plant fibers and without PFAS. My one suggestion would be to use these very sturdy 8.5" plates for parties that offer many "finger-foods" and then have plastic plates near the wings and meatballs.
I love the thought of Compostable plates and helping the environment. These plates are perfect for non-liquid-based purposes. Dry sandwiches, chips, and potato salad, but unless you want to take the chance of it soaking through and falling apart, I would choose a more appropriate plate. I tried my plates with old-fashioned fried chicken and the oil-soaked through. I'm posting pictures of the top and bottom of my fried chicken plate. I would definitely buy these for the times I don't have to worry about soaking foods.
