I own a lot of birds, most of them being cockatiels which have a lot of dander,everything in my birds room was always covered in their white dander, I'd scrub all my grey shelfs, their black cages, and my walls(covered in plastic) several times a week just to wake up the next day to a lovely layer of white dust i bought this for their room and within in 3 days i could tell a huge difference, i scrubbed down one of my grey shelf's the day after i got it, (normally i get up the next day and its dust covered again) well here it is going on one week since i've washed it and it is still nice and clean - the filter on this is already pure white 3 days later It was covered in dander That showed me exactly how well this product works I am including a picture of the filter after a 3 day use (the filter used to be jet black) and as you can see in the picture its no longer black the only black part is the Velcro it attaches with. I would suggest this to any one,with animals, who smokes, or just needs to clean the air, living in states that you can't open the windows all year long (I live in Indiana and its winter time) this will help a lot of people Also if you have allergies this is the thing to get, my boyfriend gets up every morning sneezing his head off for a good hour after he is up(he has done this all his life so its not the birds or the 1 beagle i own) since we've had this he's only sneezed several times and for about 20 mins instead of the normal 1 hour of sneezing every morning. now the only downfall(s) are it is not quiet unless its on Low, med. is loud and high is louder , and the directions were not clear about the piece you were supposed to remove to put on the filter that it came with So while removing the black mesh piece the rubber on the filter did get torn, but it still works (not even 100% sure if that black mesh piece was supposed to come off but that is what the directions said to do)
The product itself I am very happy with. I use two of these in a one bedroom apartment. One could do it. Two suggested. I figured two of these is better than one larger one. Use one in bedroom and one in living room. Usually run on low. Work great. One in bedroom I use also as white noise against neighbors. Works good. Noise is not a problem when sleeping. Changes in noise are what disturb my sleep. This is rather on the quiet side but does have to make some noise. Put a piece of tape over the light because that disturbed me more than the noise. Not worried about the filters. The hepa filter only suggest changing about every three years. I'd want to change out something filtering that small instead of washing. It's the pre filter they want changed more often. No problem with me. Am extremely happy with my two air purifiers. They make my apartment much nicer to live in. Rather surprising how nice. Didn't realize how much stagnant air got stuck in here. I definitely open windows when I can. Just can't too often. Good for getting rid of pesticide in the air. That was bothering my cats. Good for everything else. Next best thing to having my windows open. And there is always air moving around. So it doesn't feel stagnant in here.
Very pleasantly surprised. We are using this as our first (and only) air purifier in our home. It is in a 2400 sq ft home and it has a better than expected job acting as the whole home air filter. Very happy.
My allergist suggested that I get a air purifier for my bedroom. He thought it would help with my overall allergies. I have a dog and a cat and a dusty house, so I wasn't expecting a huge difference. I was surprised with the product. An hour or so after I plugged it in, the room smelled fresher and that night the quality of sleep was better. My wife has not had the nose bleeds she usually does during the winter when the house is drier and more irritants are in the air. The noise from the fan is like white noise so it is not too loud. The only thing I don't like is having to change the filter every 3 or 4 months on the outside filter and every year or so on the inside HEPA filter and the reminder settings for filter changes are strange... but for the money, a surprisingly good product!
I actually bought the larger version of this Honeywell HEPA Air Purifier (50150), am using it in Southwestern Afganistan on a US Military Base, and am VERY PLEASED with it's performance. It is very dry and dusty here in SW Afganistan most of the time, with LOTS of dust in the air, but this kitten keeps my room air clean while purr'ing away. My running nose stopped, and I sleep very soundly at night. It is worth every penny, and I highly recommend this product! :o)
we plugged it up and in a few hours we could tell a big difference in the air especially when the sun came threw the window couldn't see those little particules in the air anymore were so happy.thanks.
The price of this product was 'OK' considering most sold for around 3 times of this one. It isn't exactly quiet, but it doesn't sound like there's a helicopter about to land in your house either. I bought this product because we live in the city and have trouble with alot of "traffic dust". While it is performing as expected to control the dust, I noticed after leaving for the day then coming home how much easier is was to breathe. That is most certainly something I cannot put a price on. Seems as though you can hand wash the pre-filter and the HEPA only needs replaced every three years so spending "extra money" doesn't seem to be an issue with me. The only minor setback is that although they provide you with "Reminder Windows" you can set timers to remember when to change the filter the dates only go to 2009. Seeing how the HEPA is good for three years... well you do the math. Bottom line, if you're looking for a standard air filter to take care of your everyday needs, THIS IS IT!
The price at Walmart was the lowest I have found for this air filter. We purchased this based on the fact that our home is heated with hot water baseboard, and as such, we have no real air filtration/circulation during the winter months. We are hoping this improves the air quality in the rooms we use most. For now, we have one in the livingroom, and plan to add units to the three bedrooms. Is it whisper quiet? No, but we find that on the medium setting, it isn't distracting while listening to music, watching television, or conversing.
I read a lot of information before buying a purifier. Trying to get what I wanted all in just 1 single purifier was a little trying with what I could afford. So far this one is working out good, only have had for a few weeks. The only thing I would like is for it to be quieter. Seems louder now than the first week. Sounds like a regular air conditioner running.
I purchased this product at our local walmart though I wanted one where you did not have to change the filters. It was purchased in order to contol some of the dander put off by 2 of my large parrots and it does its job very well. Coming from Texas I am use to keeping windows open but living in ND we have to close them up almost 10 months a yr. The only downside about it is it is NOT quiet. Though it is not overly loud you are aware when it is on and the higer the speed the more noise that comes from it via the air flow. But for the price I guess I cant complain.
