I bought this looking for a good point and shoot style digital camera that had a significant zoom capability. I shake a lot so I needed something that hadnimage stabilization and this camera definitely does not disappoint. Even with my shaking hands, I was able to take this shot. If that doesn't sell the camera, I don't know what will LOL
I've been using the camera to take photos of butterflies and flowers at Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids Michigan. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have been wanting a better camera for several years now and received this as a birthday gift from my husband this year. The zoom is amazing, and the clarity and detail of the pictures are astounding for a point and click camera. I've yet to have time to explore the manual settings. But I am sold on this camera! I especially love the Wi-fi share feature as I download my photos right after I take them onto my cell phone or home phone within seconds.
Pros: Name brand, professional looking camera, ease of use, photo editing, photo effects, still shots, capturing moving objects, zoom, not a heavy camera Cons: Camera strap isn't very long but still acceptable, doesn't come with a memory card, full charge lasts only about 4 hours, I'm still trying to figure out how to focus on one object in the pic and blur out the background, I may need to purchase a backup battery for longer shoots, I didn't buy it sooner
I have had this camera a couple of months now. I have not used a point and shoot in several years. I wanted a camera that my 17 year old could easily master. I have been playing with it for I am used to an EOS. As with anything patience is the trick and a bit of fooling with it.... The clarity of shots is amazing as well as the zoom, it does take a little practice to figure out how to super zoom and not have a bad shot. The video quality is also perfect. For those folks that love a viewfinder as I do... this is not that bad... it takes a little adjustment.
I bought this a week ago and I love it! Easy to control, sharp picture, nice colors, excellent focus! Unfortunately I hadn't got too many choices with the uploaded pics because of sizes of the images.
We have a camper in an especially lovely campground so our subject matter is great to begin with. Being able to zoom in and capture a humming bird at the feeder....very special.
Love this product but the record button is in a bad spot. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
If a powerful zoom (effective up to 100x combined optical/digital; but beyond that, image quality suffers) and good HD video are all you need, this camera suits. For my needs, it's a keeper. If you're looking for sharp, vivid images, with less graininess, you're well advised to look elsewhere ... picture quality is OK, but not much more than that. I have older Canon units, less expensive and less full-featured, which take better photographs. But I take a lot of nature photos, and the ability to zoom in on animals 100 feet away, and get a reasonable full frame shot, is well worth the price. (Note: SX530 default file size is approx. 6MB - Walmart only allows 5MB upload, so image samples are resized.)
I bought my first 530 at the end of March 2017. It stopped working that October. I sent it in and they replaced it (at a discounted rate). The replacement lasted 3 months before it stopped working. The first camera, it would not record videos anymore. The second camera... I would focus, take the shot, but instead of taking the picture, it would refocus (then make it blurry) and take the picture. Sometimes it would click like it's taking the picture, go to a black screen for 1-3 seconds and then take the picture. My nephew has the same camera and has had no problems with it since he got it a year ago. He got his because I got mine. I travel a lot and need a dependable camera that won't go out on me in the middle of it. I just sent the second camera in last week, so we will see what they'll do this time... It does take incredible photos though!
