I was a bit apprehensive about this coffee, but thought I'd give it a try anyway. I figured it would either be boon or boondoggle. This definitely was a good decision on my part, as it is surprisingly good in flavor and aroma. It's a good balance between the flavors without being too sweet or overbearing.
I have been buying this flavor for the past two years. Every person I share it with totally enjoys it, finds the smell intriguing and always goes back for more. Many times I mix it half and half with Brew of Bravery for a delicious blend. As they say, "Try it, you'll like it!"!!
This blend turns most of my friends off when they hear the name. However, they are hooked after the first cup. The subtle flavor makes you feel as if you've just had breakfast. The maple bacon is not overwhelming and hints to that happy good feeling of warm fuzzy mornings.
The aroma from Maple Bacon Coffee brewing can change my dream into a southern country kitchen with the windows open letting the smell of bacon and eggs frying in the cast iron skillet while the maple syrup is warming on the back of the hot stove carry across the yard to the barn where you usually found me in the morning. My mom was the best cook in Kentucky. Corny i know, but true.
This is a great tasting coffee. It is smooth and slightly sweet. One friend who always uses cream and sugar doesn't when drinking this coffee, and another friend (who is a real estate agent) loves the smell of this brewing coffee so much that she often starts a pot in a home she is showing because it makes the home more "homey".
As with The Bananas Foster, I thought this brew might be overly sweet, but it wasn't. Instead, the flavor was very subdued, instead of overpowering, as I had previously expected. I really enjoyed it, despite the name-but I read other positive reviews and decided to try it!!!
We drank this over Christmas and it filled the house with the aroma of bacon and pancakes (maple). Everyone, even the people who say they hate flavored coffee, enjoyed this. It gives you the flavor without being sweet. Lovely. Once, I brewed this in my classroom and a student came in and asked who had bacon and pancakes!
At first, I thought it sounded like a strange flavor and was expecting a salty meat flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with first the scent. It has a dark smokey/sweet flavor that made me think of camp outs at grandma's house. No bacon flavor, but definately a pleasing smokey flavor and aroma as if it was brewed over an open camp fire. You can definately taste the maple. I can close my eyes and recall hotcakes, bacon and laughter between sips of hot coffee. The only drawback, may be just personal preference. I like really dark heavy coffees and it felt just a little weak. Not quite a dark/rich enough roast to carry the wonderful flavors added. My recommendation to the maker is to use a darker, richer bean. To consumers: TRY THIS! You will not be disappointed.
Their is nothing like waking up in the morning with the smell of pancakes and bacon and coffee. It reminds me that on this day, I have no work to do and a whole day ahead thats mine, I can get caught up in my reading and snuggle in to a wonderful cup of Sunday Morning Peace, a perfect begining.
I loved the aroma of the beans and especially the ground coffee. But I was a bit dissapointed that the flavors didn't transfer to the brewed product. I probably wouldn't buy this type again because I only got it for the Bacon/Maple vibe, which it didn't bring. But decent coffee aside from that.
