I thought this tasted pretty good. It does have a slight sweet taste to it, but I like it. I really like how you can scan the barcode and find out where it was made. Sweet Espresso by Ethical Bean was done right! The taste of this blend is on point! It has now become one my favorite roast. I've been a fan of the company because of it's B Corporation certification as well as their participation in Fair Trade Coffee. Another plus is that this beans are organic. I prefer my coffee in beans so I can grind them myself, right before I am ready to brew. Doing this gives you the opportunity to get the best smell during brew, but more importantly, the best taste from the beans you just finished grinding. I believe most coffee aficionados would agree. Want to know more about the beans for you coffee? Just scan the QR code and it will complete details of the beans, when it was roasted, where the beans come from and much more information. Just another detail that Ethical Bean thought about when putting together their coffee. This particular flavor, Sweet Espresso, gives you rich, flavorful cup with excellent body every time. Also, it has no bitterness, which is great for those with sensitive stomachs. I've tried other Ethical Bean flavors, but this is definitely my favorite. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed by any means. If there is a downside to this outstanding coffee, it would be the size of the bag. I wish it would come in a bigger size. I order two bags so I don't have to re-order that quickly. Sweet Espresso...gets five stars for being a great company doing business the right way, but even more, bringing a great tasting product to the us, the end consumers. I highly recommend it. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review. I have to say that the Sweet Espresso Whole bean tasted very good. This was my first time trying an organic coffee and I am very pleased it with except the price could be a bit lower for the smallish bag. It had a light, rich and bold flavor to it. It also had a hint of a somewhat nutty, fruity taste to it. The machine I used has a refillable pod and once I ground the beans up, they turned out perfect to work in my machine. I add milk to my coffee so that's why it looks discolored. I use a big can to put my grounds in so I can just scoop them out and they are ready to be brewed.
Fresh Espresso at Home I had the opportunity to try the ethical bean coffee and there are so many varieties it was hard to choose; I chose the whole bean sweet espresso as my first choice. Upon opening, the vacuum-sealed bag emanated the freshness and sweet aromas of what was soon to be a delicious cup of freshly homemade espresso. I gently ground the whole beans with my coffee bean grinder and made a cup of espresso that was strong upon first sip with little to moderate acid and full of deliciousness. This medium roast is vibrant and has notes of chocolate and nuts, and is deep and creamy. If you like your espresso strong these Guatemalan beans can stand on their own. What I loved and found interesting is that ethical bean provides much more than a cup of espresso or coffee, they go as far as providing a scanable QR code on each bag that will give you the details and origin of the fairtrade organic beans. This coffee is amazing! As soon as I smelt the bag, I knew I was hooked. It tastes just as good as it smells! I am very happy I decided to try this coffee out. Also, it's pretty cool the way you can trace your coffee from field to cup. Easily by going online and tracing your bag of coffee!!
My family and I loved the sweet espresso medium dark roast. Once you open the bag, you will be totally blown away by how fragrant it is. I would say it's more dark than medium but my family loves a strong espresso so it was perfect for us. With a splash of almond milk, it is the perfect morning cup of coffee for us! I would definitely recommend Ethical Bean coffee and I'm really happy that it's available at Walmart, which makes it convenient to find. Each bag also has a QR code on it that you can scan on your phone and see the origins of the beans for that particular bag. The coffee comes packaged in a resealable bag, which is convenient and keeps the beans fresh until you're ready to grind them. I love the way this coffee smells when I'm grinding it for my morning cup, great way to start the morning. Ethical Bean Fairtrade Organic Coffee, Sweet Espresso Medium Dark Roast is very smooth, not bitter, and tastes very much like...coffee. I wasn't brave enough to make it full throttle at 2 tbsp per 6 oz, more like 6 tbsp for 12 cups, but it was still a nice strong cup of coffee. I never did get a "sweet espresso" sense out of it (probably due to toning it down a bit), but enjoyed it regardless. I also enjoyed knowing it was fair trade and organic. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion . This package originated in Guatemala, and according to the information obtained through the QR code, it is grown in altitudes in excess of 1600 meters, or about 4800 feet. I brewed the coffee in a stove-top mocha, rather than automated espresso machine, though the directions indicate dosages for an "espresso machine". While the coffee was a nice, dark brown color, not too thick, and so of the proper consistency, I found that it has a bit of a bitter undertone. It has the characteristics of a Cuban-style finely ground espresso, and is quite dissimilar to Asian roasted coffees or to an Italian roasted espresso bean. I would definitely recommend it in cappuccinos, or macchiatos, or even as straight Cuban coffee or "cafe con leche", where one can add sugar or milk to soften its bitterness a bit. The nice thing is that this coffee was not acidic like some of its Cuban-coffee style coffees.
I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion. I made this coffee as espresso using my breville dual boiler. The shot was easy to dial in and pulled like most espresso blend beans and produced a very attractive cup with nice mottling. The resulting cup was very mellow and had notes of chocolate and, most interestingly, heavy cream. Not what I would call "sweet", but a very, very nice shot by itself or in a latte. This is certainly above average for a bean from a large grocery store or supermarket, though it still falls short of fresh, locally roasted single origin beans. I used my smartphone to look up the "history" of the bean and was pleasently surprised to see the origins, varietals, roast date, and other information listed. It was very cool to see the full journey the bean took to get to me. Very unique. As a bit of a picky coffee person, this would be the coffee I would recommend picking up when buying from a large chain supermarket.
