This nest works great would buy again and tell friends to get one
Very easy to install, I liked that it came with the cover plate, which I used so that it covers the unpainted wall from where the old thermostat used to be. While it can go automatically into eco mode (i.e. higher and lower than normal temperatures to save on electricity, fully customizable setting) I turned that feature off because of the location of my thermostat in a low traffic hallway made the nest think that nobody was home and got hot (it was summer) and I had to go to the app in my phone and turn off the eco mode. The nest has a sensor and anytime you walk in front of it it lights up (wake up) and displays the current temp.
I live the easy to read interface; the intuitive controls; the remote control, schedule and monitoring from virtually anywhere with the smartphone app; and the way it intelligently "learns" our usage habits and updates the schedule to anticipate what we do most often. My only detraction is that once in a great while, it drops its wifi connection and I have to reset, but that's a minor annoyance. This is an amazing upgrade over the ugly, basic and boring previous stat we had!

The Nest is a really nice thermostat with a bunch of great features to help us save money. However, there can be somewhat of a learning curve with it because of all of the bells and whistles. It is intuitive and starts remembering your patterns after a while, so it can automatically create a schedule for you. Sometimes this isn't what we actually want, so we have found it best to just create a schedule ourselves. We don't currently have any other Google home devices, and it still works great without that added layer of connectivity. My favorite aspect is that it knows if you've walked by recently. If not, you can set it so it won't turn on, therefore saving your energy costs. Overall, it continues to be a good device for us, it has just taken a little time to adjust to all of the cool features!
Make sure you have a c wire , it will not work reliably without one
Got this brand new and even with A compatible wiring system, two electricians. I kept getting error “no power to the R switch” and now “ Please remove the thermostats from in space then reattach it “ No matter what happens. I need to return this .
Horrible experience since I've bought it in January. Horrible product. Compressor on ax went out since installing and unit keeps turning off because google nest keeps loosing connection. We have been troubleshooting for the past couple months. This is the first google home product I've bought and will be the last.
I purchased a new unit and Walmart sent me a clearly refurbished one with non-functioning wifi. Decided to exchange it through Google rather than deal with Walmart and their dishonest supplier. Google confirmed this unit was originally sold 2 years ago and already had an expired warranty.
