I researched fitness bikes for several days before pulling the trigger and purchasing the Schwinn IC4. The main review scare I kept seeing on EVERY exercise bike out there is that people would be riding and the pedals would fall off and be stripped out to the point they were unusable. I suspect in most cases this was user assembly error, but who knows. More on this in a second :p Assembly: I assembled it in maybe 30 minutes using the provided instructions. All tools were provided. Regarding the pedals, I can't see how anyone could assemble them wrong considering the toe cages are already in place, so it's clear which pedal goes where (and there's a sticker on each pedal in case the wasn't obvious enough). Again, those reviews about pedals falling off was a concern, but this bike was built well and I can't ever see that happening. The Ride: I've been using this thing daily since it was delivered a few weeks ago. Overall impression: I love it! It rides smooth. It's quiet. Changing the resistance is a snap. The heartbeat monitor that comes with it is a nice touch. It's a decent machine. I do have two gripes, but they aren't deal breakers for me...even though one is potentially dangerous. Issue 1: The seat is not very comfortable. I'm told over time you adapt, but in the meantime, I just fold up a hand towel and put it over the seat as extra cushion. Problem solved. Issue 2: To stop the 40lb flywheel, you either have to press the resistance knob (located between your knees), or slow down pedaling gradually. You cannot just stop pedaling! Being used to a normal mountain bike, this was alarming. When you get going, like stand-up-push-hard-type going, and then get winded and just try to stop, this thing takes your feet/legs unexpectedly for a ride. I can see how this could lead to injury, and I was honestly shocked by this. Once you get used to it tho, it's fine. Just be aware! Riding in the morning before breakfast, without leaving the house! Wife and I use the Peloton app (on Amazon Firestick) and find it works great! We do wish the cadence readout was just a number instead of the gauge, it would make it easier to follow class. Be certain to tighten the pedals. Both pedals fell off during the first 50 km, it was my fault and easy to fix, just use real tools instead of the included set. We also added a cup holder, since the stock holders don't work well for shaker bottles or cups that don't lock closed.
Love my IC4. Challenging resistance levels for every level of athlete from the casual to the professional. Smooth, quiet ride. Easy to use display and heart rate monitor. Only wish would be for the RPM to display a numerical value as opposed to being so tiny at the top of the display screen. Overall excellent purchase and addition to my home gym. #sweepstakes
My husband and I were looking at getting healthier and exercising more. We had been talking for a while about getting a treadmill and had purchased one already but I really wanted a bike for myself. A coworker always talked about her Peloton and I looked at those but the Schwinn had all the features I wanted and the price couldn't be beat! It was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. It also came with a free year of their fitness app that I can link to the bike through Bluetooth on my phone or iPad. The only thing is that the app calculates calories burned and distance differently, the calories are way over and the distance seems to be way under what the bike calculates on the display. I go by the bike because there's no way I'm burning 20,000 calories during a 30 minute workout but it would be nice if it were accurate so I could link to my fitness app on my phone to keep track. Overall it's a great bike and I've lost 12 lbs. with exercising 2-3 times a week with intermittent fasting. #sweepstakes
The wait is over! My Schwinn IC4 was delivered and I couldn't be happier. Love the design, the colors, and the overall ease of use. I've been using my phone to stream videos from the internet and it has been great. I'm 220lbs and there is no shaking, knocking, or wobbling. I am going to put some mats under it because I'm on a floor that has a few imperfections, but otherwise I love this machine. My spouse complained about their not being enough tension, but you have to use the monitor to see your RPM versus your target level. Once I cranked it up for her, she felt it! She is also a big fan of the weights. One other thing, the water bottle placement is good too. I can stand or sit without my knees hitting them. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. We're already using it a lot!
I had been looking for a more economical alternative to my cycling membership or the purchase of a Peloton Bike for about two months. This bike hits the mark. It integrates with the Peloton App on the phone and shows heart rate and cadence. It is very well made and sturdy. Obviously great quality because it's Schwinn. It took me and my boyfriend about an hour or so to build. It is smaller than I thought it would be, which is something I am happy about. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and I am looking forward to getting years of use out of this bike. #sweepstakes
My husband bought this bike for us to workout at home. I originally wanted the Peloton but after he saw the reviews for this Schwinn IC4 he decided to get it. I've used it almost every day and I Love it! It's quiet and very smooth. I would highly recommend this bike!
We ordered this after our gym closed due to Covid 19. We knew we had to wait for 60 plus days , but it arrived a couple weeks early. Very easy to set up. I like the Explore the world app , I might have to pay for the extra courses. It holds my iPad pro perfectly. The water bottle holder does slightly get in the way of my knees when standing to ride. I think it is a very good price for the quality.
Are use the Schwinn I see for almost every day. It's comfortable quiet effective. Adjustments are fairly easy. And the ability to use brand apps such as peloton as swift as a fraction of the cost is huge! Only drawback is the Placement of the bottle and white holders. I am 6', my knees hit it when I'm out of my seat paddling. I had to remove them And implement a work around having a table nearby to place a bottle and weights on
This bike is great and works very well for what it is, I love using it to supplement my home workouts with cardio and the IC4 is a tremendous bike for this. I workout 5-7 days a week and use this bike 4-5 days a week. The reason I rate 4 out of 5 stars is my knees hit the water bottle holders when I ride at the comfortable settings I prefer. Additionally, the gears are not as smooth as I thought they could be. I may need to try to adjust and calibrate them but out of the box the first 3 gears all feel about the same and 5 is very tough resistance I feel as though they could be more level in changing resistance. Bike setup out of the box is a bit of a bear, but the bike is very sturdy and I love it all things considered.
